I have taken this picture on my last trip to Morocco and it came out like this... However, I rather like it and would like to know what you guys think of it. I know we do have some pros on this forum so please don't be shy and let me know.

Pro or Con ??

I like it as it is mysterious and keeps forcing me to look again to see if I can decipher it better.

I feel that if it were cropped vertically to the left of the walker, just before what appears to be a dark window or door in the wall, it becomes, to me, more satisfying to look at?

My opinion only.

It works for me, painterly and expressive.

I can see the body language, the mood, the light...

The only if... would be the tonal range... I've made a try with more black and it works better yet, for me of course.

I like the picture too. The items arround the walker seems important to me, because they 'tell' the story. I have had to look at it for a while to see another person standing behind the walker at the wall. I like that kind of images where you can look again and again and they reveal new perspectives each time. Gerald's objection concerning tonal range are comprehensible.

In general I think that this kind of pictures have good capability to express emotions, fellings etc and they can develop a deep connection to the observer. But I would not call them surrealism, maybe I would call it abstract.

Andreas

Armin - Yes, I like it too...it's truly photographic in that it'd be impossible to create in any other medium (well, almost). And the figure in the background is truly spooky. I do agree with Gérald about more black, or even a touch more contrast. Thanx for showing.

cheers:

To me, this picture evokes some early prints on albumen — I recently worked on a book about Opium where we have these pictures of opium smokers

taken in the 20ies et 30ies.

I really find a lot of mystery in it, and I love to see something where I cannot instantly put a name on.

However, I second Gerald reaction : the mystery here lack tonal range and, namely, blacks — colour of mystery, isn't it ?

Absolutely Pro

Cheers

Johan
