Agree! Try using the "Shadows and Highlights" in PS on the musicians shot. Pete.
jaapv Posted January 24, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted January 24, 2007 Agree! Try using the "Shadows and Highlights" in PS on the musicians shot. Pete. No I won't. I deliberately left it that way.For two reasons. I like the atmosphere as it is, and this is an eight-bits file. It would posterize the faces of the musicians. And thanks everybody. I'll post the settings later tonight.
samwells Posted January 24, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 24, 2007 Really nice series - the lighting and sky in no. 1 is quite extraordinary, almost like an idealised architectural model. Thanx for showing. cheers: Sam
jaapv Posted January 24, 2007 Author Share #10 Posted January 24, 2007 Jaap, This is impressive stuff. Very sharp and clean. What sort of exposure settings were you using please? These are camera-jpegs, with all settings at standard. All four were set to ISO 200 and they were taken at between 1/5th 2.0 and 1/8th 2.1. Processed in PS, levels, blackpoint, curves, Neat Image noise-reduction (remove half the noise) resized and sharpened for the web.In shot 1 significant keystoning was corrected as well. The main thing is to take care not to underexpose. In that case one has to correct the exposure and that is similar to amplifying a sound recording that was recorded at too low a level: the noise is amplified as well. Far better to start with a shot that is exposed on the high side and reduce the exposure in post-processing. The occasional blown-out highlight is far less disageeable than overall noise. The best is of course to be spot-on
