hepcat Posted March 22, 2013 Share #121 Posted March 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) When you post pictures like this you need to accept responsibility for giving the plastic in my wallet the jitters. I wish I could say I was sorry. I'm not. You can tell your plastic that it's ok tho... I got that whole rig (with a silver rigid Summicron instead of the Nokton shown) for less than the cost of the least expensive M8 body I've seen for sale, and for less than most M6 TTLs are going for. hepcat Posted March 31, 2013 Share #122 Posted March 31, 2013 I sold my M3 and it's in the hands of its new owner, but I thought I'd do a "family portrait" just for fun before it left... CRW_2816-Edit by chief1120, on Flickr

hepcat Posted March 31, 2013 Share #124 Posted March 31, 2013 and which is your favorite..?very curious. andy Wow... tough question, Andy. I like them each for specific reasons, and I use them each for different tasks. If I had to choose just one, though, I'd choose the M9P.

Sparkassenkunde Posted April 11, 2013 Share #126 Posted April 11, 2013 I´m in. My M4-P just arrived after long weeks at the repair service. I am hopeful, that the dull weather here near Berlin goes by, so I may make use of that lovely cam. My bag is packed... Welcome, dear visitor! alandash Posted April 17, 2013 Share #127 Posted April 17, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Has anyone ever thought of changing the levers on the M3 to the M4 style? That should be easy (and cheap), because there are many spare M4 levers that have been taken off the M4s to convert in the other direction. Why not be the only boy on your block to have one? The only tough operation would be trying to convert the M3 to the angled rewind crank of the M4. Another cool idea would be to create various mixtures of chrome and black on the same body. It's thoughts like this that kept me out of the best schools and country clubs!

SteveYork Posted May 1, 2013 Share #136 Posted May 1, 2013 There's a 'feel' that the M3, M2 and original Leicaflex possess that is different then the M4, Leicaflex SL and M5. The latter, of course, are much more practical.
CalArts 99 Posted May 2, 2013 Share #137 Posted May 2, 2013 With the M2 they started to leave off the lens release button finger guard. It finally returned with the M6. I tend to often hold my M film cameras in my right hand with the strap wrapped around my wrist and vertically against my leg when my arms are down at my sides. My thumb on the rear and forefinger on the front hold the camera easily (along with the safety of the wrapped strap.) But I found that my forefinger would be too close to resting on the release button. DAG made a M3 guard out of brass for my M4. The ergonomics are now perfect for me with the M4, plus I get modern film loading and quick rewind. The M4 is still my favorite flavor. Welcome, dear visitor! philipus Posted May 3, 2013 Share #138 Posted May 3, 2013 That looks like it's always been there, CalArts. Impressive work. I carry my cameras in the same way as you and also find that I often touch the lens release button, but so far - touch wood - I haven't accidentally released a lens. Leica M4 BP and Hektor 2,8cm f6.3 | Flickr cheers Philip Ps. I vote "blondes"

I vote "blondes" Nothing would probably happen to that lens if it fell off. It would just bounce off the floor unharmed. The BP M4 is really what I've always wanted. I never found one that was priced reasonably or that I could convince myself I could afford. But a BP version is still my secret lust. I was even tempted to buy yours when you had it up for sale for a short time. But I'm glad you decided to keep it. Maybe some day. In the meantime I'll have to stick to my 'common man' chrome version.
