IkarusJohn Posted March 11, 2011 Share #41 Posted March 11, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's a beautiful and well composed photo - thanks for the supporting data. I agree that post-processing could not have made this photo any better. One of the major reasons I am considering a return to film is exactly for this reason - I'm getting tired of sitting in front of my computer. It seems that film needs little if any post-processing in comparison to M9 RAW files. Hi Mike, Thanks for the kind comment. I think that's the thing I'm struggling with the most in my switch to digital (M9 is my first digital camera) - the idea that you have to adjust everything is a bit foreign to me. I suspect the reason I have to adjust is that I really don't understand what I'm doing. I bought an MP for that very reason, though I intend to shoot only black & white with it. Tri-X 400, I guess. I used to shoot only Kodachrome with my film cameras - not sure what I will try instead, if any slide film. I've always found Fuji too cold and a bit too blue/green, though I guess Velvia is the obvious choice. It's also cripplingly expensive. Cheers John

sm23221 Posted March 11, 2011 Share #42 Posted March 11, 2011 John; I'd say the more one knows photoshop, the more time one spends "adjusting" photos - I know I do. Dan Ryan Posted March 11, 2011 Share #44 Posted March 11, 2011 Kodachrome. This lad is now 26 yrs old. Scanned last weekend (Epson). Colour as scanned. Finding slides - particularly Kodachrome - the best for good scan results. Welcome, dear visitor! Stealth3kpl Posted April 11, 2011 Author Share #53 Posted April 11, 2011 You're right, of course. I used to use it with the M8.2. I've a habit of moving files around which then need to be brought back into the library and the old thumbnails removed. If one is less capricious than I it's a very good program. Still, as I say, the thought of going back to it isn't pleasant for me. I feel very at home with Nikon NX2. Pete

I am very, very, very happy, I got rid of all Nikon related software on all of my computers and have them exchanged with a flawlessly working workflow, involving Lightroom 3, Photoshop CS5, occasionally Vuescan, occasionally Aperture (slideshows). Leica does the smart thing and cooperates with a professional software maker, to manage their digital camera's files.
