Stealth3kpl Posted December 8, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've that familiar smell on my hands. It's been a long time (30 years) but I've just finished washing my developer/fixer bottles in preparation for home developing tomorrow....maybe. Wish me luck! Stealth3kpl Posted December 9, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted December 9, 2010 All seems to have gone well. 4 films hanging in the shower drying as I speak. One looks like I've over exposed it (in camera) but we'll see. Pete
Xmas Posted December 9, 2010 Share #6 Posted December 9, 2010 Hi Best to wear rubber gloves until part way through washing the film, it is not hairs on chest you might get. Noel
bill Posted December 9, 2010 Share #7 Posted December 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Gentlemen, this reminds me of a story... I used to work for a company that had a particularly fearsome and wealthy Personnel Director (this was in the days before the mealymouthed "HR"...) She took my team out to dinner in a London restaurant - Quaglinos, as I recall - and treated us to a private room. She was a rabid anti-smoker and found it rude that people kept sneaking out for a cigarette. She commented loudly when a couple more disappeared, and when one returned she cornered him and accused him of smoking. The individual, who for all the world reminded me of a young Kenneth Williams, held up two fingers, close together and uttered the immortal words: "No, Barbara, not at all, I've just been to the toilet - here, smell my fingers..." Jaybob Posted December 10, 2010 Share #8 Posted December 10, 2010 Hi Best to wear rubber gloves until part way through washing the film, it is not hairs on chest you might get. Noel I concur. I like the smell, especially of Stop Bath, but I don't want it ON me. Jay
chrism Posted December 10, 2010 Share #9 Posted December 10, 2010 I concur. I like the smell, especially of Stop Bath, but I don't want it ON me. Jay It's only vinegar, but a gateway drug nonetheless. Fixer is the stuff for real men. A good lungful of ammonium thiosulphate makes me feel all's right with the world. Xmas Posted December 11, 2010 Share #10 Posted December 11, 2010 Hi More explicitly the cyclic developer agents can sensitize leaving a permanent allergic condition give you cancer wear rubber gloves, don't splash dev. I'd not handle the powders, if you do wear dist mask and goggles, wash top garments immediately afterwards. Noel

Stealth3kpl Posted December 12, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted December 12, 2010 I uploaded them here Picasa Web Albums - Peter - London 112010 Legacy Pro 100iso. I scanned with vuescan and V700 on its simplest one pass setting to speed things up. It still took quite long enough. I'm pleased with the results. Quite adequate for my requirements. I'm not certaun they'd print too well though. Pete I had loaded too many frames from a bulk film loader on one cassette which cause problems developing some images (eg first frame). too old to care Posted December 13, 2010 Share #13 Posted December 13, 2010 I am about to also rediscover the smells of a dark room, at least as far as developing negatives. My first rediscovery will be B&W and if I like the scan results, then I will try something new for me, C41. I can hardly wait until our kitchen once again smells like dirty socks.
