Cameraleather - Slow delivery and no communications

I just did a search on the forum about cameraleather as I made an order early in October and am still waiting for it. I never got a confirmation email after I paid and have heard nothing.

I sent Morgan around 4 emails and have not got a response on any of them. I was worried he has died, gone out of business or flown to Barbados... Does anyone have any recent news from him? I only have the email address from his website- are there are any other ways to try and make contact?

Has anyone who was waiting received their leather?

I placed an order for Slate Blue Kid M9 kit in early October and received it at the end of November. I wanted it for mid-November and advised Morgan of that at order time. Responses to chasing emails non-existent to patchy. I have said it on previous posts that no matter how good his product and what a nice guy he is, this is no way to run a business. If his accounts are as chaotic as his correspondence and I suspect they are, the IRS will probably be on his tail soon.

I placed an order for black lizard in early September and have not received it. He wrote in early December to apologize and say it was posted. It never arrived. He has not responded to emails letting him know it never came.

Hello,

Yippee! I finally received my 2 kits.

And why it took so long at end? Mainly because of the german customs... It looks like the goods where even returned after 5 month. Fortunately Morgan post it again. This time I was able to track the delivery status of the package on the website of the United States Postal Service. And finally everything went fine.

Thank you all!

Pete, special thanks to you! Without your help the story would not have come to a good end.

Morgan, I'm really sorry that you encounter this trouble with the European Customs.

I hate being negative, but my story is one of promised communication not happening, thanks for my patience, and silence for six months punctuated by one only email. The initial correspondence was good, and the money was paid. I was in no hurry for the order, and said so. This seems to have been taken to mean I neither wanted the two skins, or any acknowledgement. The order was made in November last year. If I thought I had any chance of getting my money back, I would go straight to the competition.

All I can say is that when it FINALLY arrives, it is worth waiting for. Morgan is his own worst enemy and does his business little favour by his communication skills. If only they were as good as his abilities with leather. His kits are actually just as nice as the somewhat more expensive Leica à la carte leather. I had his Slate Blue Kid leather on my grey M9 and now have Leica British Racing Green Nappa Leather, so have been do a direct comparison. The slate blue had to go when the sensor was replaced and Leica very kindly gave me a choice of leathers from their à la carte range.

I would never do business with someone like Camera Leather for two reasons - first, why should I put up with less respect than I give him by my order and attention, and second I would not support a person so oblivious.

Dump camera-leather and let him earn his way. If he reads this forum he probably thinks he's got you by the ....

Discourage by ceasing to do business with him. Look, he's pissing on you and you think it is Spring rain!

I have to be fair. Morgan has surfaced, and the correspondence has recommenced. I am advised that my two kits (M3 restoration black & IIIf lizard skin) are finished. I will be unable to pick them up until September, nothing to do with Camera Leather, just my own crazy schedule, but it seems that the comments concerning final satisfaction are correct.

I am afraid LeicaLeather exotic leathers do nothing for me. I think they make the cameras look a bit like the handbags my mother used to tote around in the 1950's. The finer grain lizard is just about OK but still a bit shiny.

I have e-mailed him twice for a price for lizard for an M9 and no response .....

Black Lizard skin is shown as $76 on their order page. I am not sure if this is the price for M9 though.

I am thinking Medium Grey Lizard skin for my M9-P after the warranty expires.I guess I'll have to inquire for grey skin.

I think you have to add $15 for an M8/9 cutout on top of the price of the normal leather kit. I ordered a Cobalt Blue Kidd leather kit last year for my Silver M8 and it took a couple of weeks to get here. I'm pretty sure Morgan is a one man operation and it's likely not his full time job. Great products though!
