Frase Posted December 2, 2017 Share #21 Posted December 2, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I never had any trouble with third party batteries with my M8 it was only when I got an M9 as they seem to be more picky.
Advertisement Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 Hi Frase, Take a look here I think I found a good M8 battery alternative. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rivi1969 Posted December 9, 2017 Share #22 Posted December 9, 2017 I bought two 14464 batteries in two different Leica store (Vienna and Chicago); both batteries are Leica batteries, not 3rd part but both of these are reporting russian description. My Q camera, new from a Leica dealer, has a battery with small Leica logo on top left corner but the rest of description is in Chinese. So, what to think? That the Q batteries are made by Panasonic, as many of its guts.

david strachan Posted December 9, 2017 Share #24 Posted December 9, 2017 Dear rivi You should know better by now as a very experienced M8 user... After market batteries work well, as long as you run them down, in camera, and then recharge. That way they show proper charge on the battery charge "window". best to you... Dave, I only have 2 batteries both Leica, never had tried third-party ones. With other cameras, I have Wasabi brand which is more than adequate but they don't have any for the M8-9. shutterpete Posted December 22, 2017 Share #26 Posted December 22, 2017 What about a third party charger, or is that not too much of a concern?

Dougg Posted December 25, 2017 Share #28 Posted December 25, 2017 What about a third party charger, or is that not too much of a concern? You could try the Nitecore ULM9 charger -- http://charger.nitecore.com/CHARGER/CAMERA/ULM9/ Much more compact than the original M8 charger. I just ordered one from B&H $25. Go Figure Posted January 1, 2018 Share #29 Posted January 1, 2018 there is no alternative to 14464 ( the original is bad enough )
lct Posted January 2, 2018 Share #30 Posted January 2, 2018 14464 is the genuine M8 battery if memory serves. AFAIK it is the only one showing a proper charge on the top LCD regardless of the way it has been discharged in the camera. Third-party batteries must be totally discharged in the camera before recharging to avoid false charge readings. Not a big deal, most of my batteries are third-party's and work perfectly otherwise.
