swamiji Posted September 27, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well it appears that there are no "R" solutions at Photokina this year. Is any body surprised? Is it too late?

swamiji Posted September 27, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted September 27, 2010 I am not familure with the flow of Photokina. Is there a track record of announcements at the end?
bill Posted September 27, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 27, 2010 Why is everybody getting excited about non-news? Regards, Bill

swamiji Posted September 27, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted September 27, 2010 It's just that I am new to the R market. We have been told that there would be a "R" solution, most likely at Photokina. So far none... Based on the response, it's who cares...
bill Posted September 27, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) We have been told that there would be a "R" solution, most likely at Photokina. By whom? Regards, Bill
swamiji Posted September 27, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted September 27, 2010 By whom? Regards, Bill Besides my Leica Rep... I suppose I could dig up the Video, which one of the product managers, were talking about it, from last summer....
farnz Posted September 27, 2010 Share #9 Posted September 27, 2010 Besides my Leica Rep... I suppose I could dig up the Video, which one of the product managers, were talking about it, from last summer.... Please don't dig up your Leica Rep but I'd be interested to see the video you mention. Pete.
mjh Posted September 27, 2010 Share #10 Posted September 27, 2010 We have been told that there would be a "R" solution, most likely at Photokina. So far none... photokina 2010 is over and Leica had made their product announcements a week ago – the adequate solution for R lenses wasn’t among those. But then, Leica had never promised there would be something for R photographers this photokina. As I said, it is still too early.
leicanut2 Posted September 27, 2010 Share #11 Posted September 27, 2010 No R news but on Photokina day one video they did hit of something new coming soon so hang on to your R glass shoot some film. Jan
mooky Posted September 28, 2010 Share #12 Posted September 28, 2010 Okay, see the post in the Customer Forum Thread, Photokina - Your Questions to Leica Read Andreas' preliminary post #332 (admin) page 17, in the above thread for the comment about the R solution. There is a video at Leica Rumors from Photokina with Stefan Daniels by 'Mega Pixel' but if one LISTENS to the question - it's about Leica making a DSLR like, and to compete with Canon FF and Nikon FF DSLR's - NOT whether there will be an R solution. There is a BIG difference, and too, Leica has said before that there will not be a Leica FF DSLR. Read Andreas' post #332.
sfage Posted September 28, 2010 Share #13 Posted September 28, 2010 By whom? Regards, Bill By whom Bill? I'll tell you by whom. The guy at Leica I spoke to on the phone with the other day. Even HE sounded sick and tired of it... Bill. Even HE said this has been coming for two years... Bill. That's "whom".... Bill. It's all hunky-dory for you because you're am M user. Some of us don't WANT an M. Don't get all "holier than thou" and snotty.
tobey bilek Posted September 28, 2010 Share #14 Posted September 28, 2010 Photokina for sure, just not this photokina. Stephan Daniels as much as said there is no solution under development. Move on. We been screwed by Leica so use film, sell it off, or buy Leitax or Fotodiox bayonets or adapt them to Canon. I can tell you R lenses work great on Nikon. APO ones are fabulous. ns_ng Posted September 28, 2010 Share #15 Posted September 28, 2010 Yes, there is R solution and it is not from Leica. Try Canon/Nikon/Sony. My alpha mount R lenses are working great. Many of these R lenses deserve ff sensor. N.S. Ng
farnz Posted September 28, 2010 Share #16 Posted September 28, 2010 ... Don't get all "holier than thou" and snotty. I'm an R user and I think you're reading something into Bill's post that's not there. He's simply (reasonably) questioning swamiji's vague assertion, using the passive voice,"We have been told ..." that an R solution was to be unveiled at Photokina. Pete. JBA Posted September 28, 2010 Share #17 Posted September 28, 2010 Just because Leica isn't giving us solid, simple and intuitive a FF DSLR as a native system optimized for our manual focus R glass doesn't mean we have to shut up and be happy about it. bill Posted September 28, 2010 Share #18 Posted September 28, 2010 It's all hunky-dory for you because you're am M user. Some of us don't WANT an M. Tell you what... read what I wrote not what you thought I wrote. I have just sold out of the R system after years of ownership (R7 and Leicaflex) - literally a couple of weeks before Photokina - because I am not naive enough to wait forever for something that might never come, and for which no concrete commitments have been made. There is no R roadmap, at best there have been some aspirational statements. Hope is not a strategy... Move on. Regards, Bill
Jerry_R Posted September 28, 2010 Share #19 Posted September 28, 2010 First time it was mentioned here: Rumor: Leica EVIL camera for Photokina | Leica News & Rumors Later also Steve Huff wrote about FF EVIL R Solution. I was told, that Leica has problems with Kodak sensor and Liveview, which should be fixed early 2011.
bill Posted September 28, 2010 Share #20 Posted September 28, 2010 Is the word "rumour" not a tiny bit of a giveaway? The site is not called "Leica Facts", after all... Regards, Bill
