lanetomlane Posted September 27, 2010 Share #21 Posted September 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) We arrive Thursday and leave on Sunday. An 'after dinner' night challenge will be interesting. To see if I can hold the camera straight after the vino. __________________________- Cheers, Tom
Advertisement Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Hi lanetomlane, Take a look here Venice Meeting Arrangements etc. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
cbretteville Posted September 27, 2010 Author Share #22 Posted September 27, 2010 So there will be no rule that tells you to use the same combination of camera, lens and film in day and night challenge? For the night challenge there will be a second round of writing down in the little back book what you are going to use. The two challenges are to be considered separate in all respects. You can enter in one and not the other. It is all up to you. The equipment rules are the same for both challenges. There wil also be two different image posting and voting threads. Where it differs is that for the daytime challenge we have generous prizes from Reddot and Billingham, for the night challenge we don't. Guest WPalank Posted September 29, 2010 Share #27 Posted September 29, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wishing you all a great trip as I sit here green with envy. Thought I would mention that I just got my issue of "Departures Magazine" (in my mind, probably the best travel magazine out there) four days ago via post. It comes for free when you have one of the Premium Cards that American Express offers. Anyway, the entire issue is about Venice and filled with current information on where to stay, eat, explore, etc. One of the finest issues IMHO, that they have ever offered. Here's the teaser from the website: This Month's Magazine Table of Contents: Oct-2010 - Departures The actual articles are only accessible if you are a logged in member. So my suggestion is, if you don't personally get the magazine, borrow it from one of your friends or business associates that have it.

cbretteville Posted October 4, 2010 Author Share #35 Posted October 4, 2010 I was in Sienna in 2006 and they were renovating the cathedral. They'd put up similar protective fabric, but at least the image on it was that of the cathedral it self. Much better. Carl
JanaStein Posted October 4, 2010 Share #36 Posted October 4, 2010 Good evening, I am new to this forum, joined a couple of months ago after I bought a new Leica. I would love to meet other Leica enthusiasts. I know that it is quite late but could I still join the Venice challenge perhaps without doing the shooting as that would be a real challenge for me. farnz Posted October 4, 2010 Share #37 Posted October 4, 2010 Jana, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new Leica! I think you maybe just too late for the dinner (Andy?) but I think you'd be welcome to enter either of the Challenges. You could decide later whether you wanted to submit a photo - or not enter and just socialise. Over to you, Carl ... Pete.
erl Posted October 4, 2010 Share #38 Posted October 4, 2010 Jana, very much welcome to you. Most certainly, you are free to participate the 'Challenge', both versions. There is no pressure, except self imposed, to perform well or otherwise. Just a great opportunity to share an event with like minded people. Do the shoot and decide whether to submit your image after the event. Regarding dinner. I was possibly going to be a late starter and Andy indicated there would be 'flexibility' re the numbers. I am sure he will chime in on this thread through the day, when he gets out of bed , or you could PM him. Restaurants are accustomed to this sort of thing and need to be flexible. Look forward to seeing you in Venezia.
andybarton Posted October 5, 2010 Share #39 Posted October 5, 2010 If you want to join the dinner, let me know what you would like to choose from the menu, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and I will advise the restaurant. Please note that the lasagne starter and beef stew are "off"
