I have been thinking about trying to sell my XXXXXXXX here on Leica User Forum, but I'm wondering how it works for those that try...

There is a small cost involved which in itself is not very encouraging, but if it works, then fine...

But my main concern is – I am located in Los Angeles...if I get a potential buyer that is also from here, no problem. But what if I get somebody from, say, France or Canada...? How can such a transaction possibly work out without getting into too much trouble to bother with...?

One cannot buy an item like that sight unseen, in my opinion, so how do sellers and buyers deal with this...?

Thanks for any advise...

(...yes, we have the Craig's List alternative and it works well often...)

I'v e sold ( sometimes quite expensive) items through this forum to the USA, China, etc and never seen a problem. The same goes for buying on this forum. Normally the descriptions are quite conservative, the sellers very helpful and it always was a good experience. But I make a point of buying from sellers that have at least a bit of history on the forum. And I always use paypal.

I've mainly bought here as well as over on RFF and never had a problem with sellers. PayPal absolutely the most convenient for purchaser. (I can hardly sell anything abroad as the Norwegian postage is outrageous and kills deals.)

I have bought lenses 'unseen' in the sense that I haven't handled the lens. But, I wouldn't buy a lens without seeing shots of it unless I knew the seller from previous deals.

Provide good photographs of the item as well as a honest, conservative description and you should have no problems. Yes, there are scammers out there, but you can bump into those wherever you decide to sell your wares.

Cheers,

Carl

...Thanks for advise everybody...yes, PayPal is great and I have account...

I think you've persuaded me not to try though...it's not a new item...it's an item looking for a rare type of buyer...one that could appreciate this lens like I did...

I'll have to try locally...

Thanks and Best regards for advising me on this tricky situation...
