ryee3 Posted September 16, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 16, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have posted a need for a IR filter for an elmar 65mm f3.5 lens on a visoflex. Does anyone know who can make one from scratch? Ive called both b and w as well as heliopan without any success. Does anyone have some recommendations? They make the 41mm-Filter for the old version in chrome and I got a "Serie-Filter" from them for the newer black version. B+W doesn't sell directly. You get all their filters from Foto Huppert: http://www.foto-huppert.de/default2.asp
ryee3 Posted September 16, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted September 16, 2010 B and W have discontinued making that 41mm IR version.
Nicoleica Posted September 16, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 16, 2010 Have you tried using step-up/down rings to an available size? It may not be perfect solution, but it could save the day.

You get all their filters from Foto Huppert: http://www.foto-huppert.de/default2.asp I checked with Michael Huppert. B&W discontinued their 41 mm filters, except for the 486 filters. However, Heliopan still supplies their full range of filters in all sizes, including 41 mm. You can order it from their website.

Then I was lucky getting one of the last for an old Summarit just a few months ago. @ryee: If you don't get one from Foto Huppert or Heliopan, feel free to send me a PN. I won't use the Summarit on the M8 any more.
pico Posted September 17, 2010 Share #8 Posted September 17, 2010 I had a 144mm diameter filter of Schott glass made for me by these folks. The price was rather daunting. I'd not suggest that approach. The up/down step rings would be a better idea.
ryee3 Posted September 20, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted September 20, 2010 I took the step up 41-46mm step up filter ring approach. Thanks for everyones comments. The 41 mm filter has been discontinued by the following companies: B and W, Heliopan, and Huperts in Germany.
zeitz Posted September 20, 2010 Share #10 Posted September 20, 2010 Some have suggested that an optican can cut down the glass from a larger size filter to replace the glass you don't want in an ordinary 41mm filter. I can't see the opticans where I live getting intested in such a request. Perhaps Focal Point in Colorado could do it. The last option is to trade your chrome 65mm Elmar for a black 65mm Elmar. In the end this might be the simplest approach.
