earleygallery Posted September 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Needs to carry a french stick (can be broken in half) a whole small brie, some ham, a half bottle of vin rouge and an apple. Is there something with a 'cool bag' section for the food and film? It would also be good if it would go equally well with a tweed n jeans, or a business suit for when I attend high flying executive meetings.

It would also be good if it would go equally well with a tweed n jeans, or a business suit for when I attend high flying executive meetings. James, it would be such a shame to break your baguette in half, so start with a tripod bag. That would be big enough also (with suitable Billingham dividers) to hold a half bottle of wine. One of the sections should then be lined with a cannibalised LIDL coolbag (about £1.50) which has that shiny silver plastic on its inner surface; that will keep your food and film nice and cool. The dividers should be placed so that the actual camera equipment sections are at one end (the upper end when the bag is on your shoulder, so that, if you drop the bag, the baguette has some chance to act as a shock absorber for the initial impact). Finally, these bags usually come in black, so will go nicely with your business suit, but an outer wrap of a brown dustbin bag will match your tweeds, and offer additional waterproofing for when out in the country. Hope this helps.
topoxforddoc Posted September 8, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 8, 2010 How about a Billingham Packington? 3 large divisions in the main bag as well as a document section at the back and 4 outer pockets. You might have to take 2 demi-baguettes instead, but I've fitted a full botlle of wine in mine as well as DMR and 28-90 asph. Best wishes,
MEB Posted September 8, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 8, 2010 I'm not aware of a bag that would meet all of your requirements. What I do in such circumstances is tow my grandchild's little red wagon behind me. A small battery operated refrigerator fits nicely and on occasion I have set up my tripod inside the wagon. The camera is mounted on top and thanks to the forethought of the Gitzo engineers, I hang a cook pot from the hook on the bottom of the center post. All in all, it works well for a photographic picnic in the park. I can't help you with the sartorial considerations unless you are willing to paint the wagon a more compatible color. geaibleu Posted September 8, 2010 Share #6 Posted September 8, 2010 The ideal bag is the leather version of a Cullman bag (purchased at Japan Camera in Quebec city) quite a few years ago0 that has allowed me to travel the world witha R3, R4, R5, and R6 body (obviously not at the same time...) with three lenses: 180, 60, and 24. The poor bag gave up after some 20 years of great service. I am still crying about its decay!

Surely the bag your after should be able to amply accommodate those too? Oh, and a compartment for the jet-ski ... ? Pete.
Chiefey Posted September 10, 2010 Share #10 Posted September 10, 2010 An original Domke bag served me well for the same items for almost 30 years, and still going strong. I don't think it'll ever wear out.
