Any answers yet?

The session ended just over an hour ago. Andreas will be publishing a summary of what was said during the two hours of the meeting...

Has it been mentioned where Leica's responses to our questions will be posted? In this thread or a new thread in the Customer forum perhaps?

Pete.

+2

independent from Jürgens future resumee, I´ll interested in remarks from participants.

(at 3.00 am this morning I was to lazy to go to the station and join the meeting :) so I would be very interested.)

Well I think, we should leave summing up the details to Andreas and then start with individual views about many topics dealt with in the meeting. None from the leading crew of Leica was missing and each one gave his own view, which perhaps was the most interesting about the meeting.

There were no big news, just some facts about the present situation. They all were very clear that Leica won't give premature announcements, as long as they aren't sure about themselves.

All of them still seemed to be surprized about the success of the M9 and the S2 and they mentioned some numbers about the D-Lux 5. They also gave some detailed facts about present problems in keeping up production to customer's demand.

The focus seems to be on doing the homework to increase capacities for a better output and to solve problems. At the same time they a thinking about and working on future concepts but were very, very reluctant to reveal more than this.

Well it sounds like they had a few 'pow-wows' during Photokina to perhaps arrive at a level of consistent comments? I'll be happy to not draw any REAL conclusions until things are read - but, it it's like 'the cows have already left the barn' as to their past comments that started the tide of expectations.

But yes, I'll wait to see the real comments.......

Plans are air. Nothing more. I think we would all cheer if Leica offered specific dates for the promised upgrades to address X-1 issues and M9 issues. Of course I am not one of Leicas favored few

to whom they turn for marketing advice.

That speaks for itself.

It's time for some Japan Company to offer "trade in" programs for the remaining R lens users.....

If these are the news, I will continue to use 4/3 along with R lenses, will find a FF body to as a complementary solution, and never buy whatever Leica solution will come to the market when "they will be sure about themselves".

Traveler, I think charlie03m refers to the fact that R lenses lose auto-stopdown on non-R bodies, meaning one either has to shoot all the time wide-open - or focus at the shooting aperture (stopped down) - or pause after focusing to manually stop down the lens.

On a true R body with all the connections, one focuses wide-open all the time, regardless of the aperture that will be used for the actual exposure. Which is faster.

Adan,

That's exactly what I meant. Many of my subjects are doing from 100 to 300 knots.

Thanks,

Charlie,
