Hello all,

This is my first post. I have both the above lenses and have the following options to consider:

1) Have an offer to sell 28mm at reasonable price.

2) Don't sell and try and sell 35mm.

3) Keep both!

4) I also have the 50mm F1.4asph. These are the only lenses I own.

A little help please from all you experts out there. I'm keen but new to the Leica world.

Many thanks.

Keep all of them if you can, you may regret selling them later. Your shooting style will greatly determine the lenses you require. But, personally, I would keep the 28 and 50 and sell the 35. If I had to get down to just one lens, I would choose the 28 Summicron, it is to be one of the best. However, my shooting style lends itself to the merits of the 28. All the best to you.

It is very difficult to advice you, since you don't tell us what you want instead, and why you consider selling the lenses you have. Selling Leica lenses is OK if you acquire another Leica lens, but never ever sell a Leica lens in order to acquire a lens or camera of another make - that you will regret a whole lifetime!

I had the 35/25 Summarit and sold it since I felt it irritating that the sun shade kept going loose all the time and could not be fastened.

I have the 28/2.0 but it is one of my least used lenses. In fact, I better liked the 28/2.8 ver. 4 that I had before.

Selling both would probably allow you to acquire the 35/1.4 asph FLE which would be an excellent complement to your 50/1.4 asph.

But before making a decision you must find out what you want to photograph and which lense(s) would be the best choice for that.

Og, come on! Thats depends on whether you are a photographer first and Leica user second, or Leica collector/gear fondler first and photographer second.

I have sold a number of Leica lenses and bodies to fund equipment that I needed to get the shots I needed. The Canon 85 1.2L II was one lens bought from the proceeds of a 50 lux asph LHSA (with plenty left over to get a back M body) and it has helped me produce some very good portraits that would not have been possible otherwise. I also found the Xpan was quite handy for producing panoramic B&W negs. If this is something you are aiming to achieve, holding onto a Leica lens you dont use much is not going to help....

Sure, leica prices seem to keep going up, but while they do so, there may be wonderful photography you are missing out on.

I recently sold my MP-3 LHSA BP. Painful, yes, but it funded the printing of a three year project and with the difference I bought a 0.72 M6, which while not as lovely, does the job just fine.

Its personal!

You should keep both if you can Mark, but the 28mm is one of Leica's best, so if you are funding another idea sell the 35mm.

The thing about lenses is that even if over the years you end up with ten different 50mm lenses (and they don't all have to be Leica!) they will all render a scene in a different way, and its often this subtlety that you miss later on after selling one. So I agree with the others in that you should only sell in dire need for either the money to buy food, or for another project that is going to give you more productive equipment. Don't do it through the guilt of seeing a lens that you don't use much, because you know that as soon as its gone you'll want it.

What's about your CAMERA ? I mean, is different if you have M8 or M9... is true that selling Leica glass is always a pity (and you have "new" lenses only), but, looking at the above set I'd simply would say that if with M8 you miss a wide and with M9 you have nothing "a bit long" : depending on your style you could consider some swap : 28 for 24 or 21 in case of M8 (but admit that 28 f2 is "something special") - 35 for 75 or 90 in case of M9 (Summarit for Summarit if you want to keep tight budget)
