Hi.

On my brand new M9 I have observed some dark cirkular dots as shown in the enclosed crop.

Is is dust?

It's not a bug, it's a (well known) feature: a rocket blower will help...

I had the same problem, found the answers i a forum (forgot, which one...)

Enjoy the camera and have fun (after the cleaning)

Best regards

Axel

If they shift or disappear with blowing or vacuuming they are dust, if they don't they are sticky and are oil or pollen and can be removed by a wet clean. If you really want to know what they are you can study them through a sensor loupe or better still a microscope.

Hi Albert,

They look exactly like the oil spots on the sensors in my new M8s years ago.

There were many threads on the best way to clean them at the time.

I used Eclipse 2 and a Visible Dust Sensor loop.

Very easy to do once I plucked up the courage and they never recurred.

I only found them after reading the forum as I usually use my lenses nearly wide open.

Just make sure your battery is well charged.

Alan

Thank you for all comments. I will wisit Solms very soon, and they have promissed to fix the problem. I do not dare to try myself.

Albert:)

You will find it is a recurring problem by the very nature of digital photography and an interchangable lens camera. So unless you go to Solms often its worth making the effort to do it yourself.

Had the same issue with my M8 a few months into usage. Once wet cleaned, the problem never recurred. My M9 is just entering the 'danger period' but so far, apart from a few dust spots, there is nothing to see.

Cheers

Robert
