chris_tribble Posted June 8, 2010 Share #21 Posted June 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well that was quick! Leica have just sent me a new code. I assume that this will work with LR3... Download from Adobe and install I assume. Off on a job now so no time to check - interested to hear how others manage... jpattison Posted June 8, 2010 Share #22 Posted June 8, 2010 Good work, Chris! Let us know if this gives you the full app, or whether it allows an upgrade path. Cheers, John
ronaldh Posted June 8, 2010 Share #23 Posted June 8, 2010 I currently run LR 2.6 which I bought. If I upgrade to LR 3, either by buying the upgrade, or by using the disc which came with my M9 assuming that is possible, will the LR library transfer across automatically or do I have to start over again? elgenper Posted June 8, 2010 Share #24 Posted June 8, 2010 I have downloaded and installed LR3 and its terrific. One question however... Can someone tell me the proper way to uninstall LR2 on a Mac? I'm not sure if just dragging it to the trash is the right way to go! If (as you say) you´re going on with LR 3, DO NOT use any of the 3rd party "uninstall" utilities (MacCleanse, Amnesia & c), because they´ll throw out your preferences, presets, and possibly even your library. Just install LR 3 when LR 2 isn´t running, then make sure that the icon in Dock (or other launcher) points to the new one, and use it. At your convenience, later just throw the old LR from Applications to the Trash. I currently run LR 2.6 which I bought. If I upgrade to LR 3, either by buying the upgrade, or by using the disc which came with my M9 assuming that is possible, will the LR library transfer across automatically or do I have to start over again? My M9 didn´t come with any disc; I don´t think they do anywhere. However, whichever way you did get LR 2, you´ll be asked if you want to transfer an old library once you start LR 3. Point to the one you used with LR 2, and let the machine work. When it´s through, you´re all set. Remember: once you´ve updated the library, you won´t be able to use it with LR 2 any more. I strongly suggest you do a backup before converting (let LR 2 do it last thing, and then save the backup from its normal place).
microview Posted June 8, 2010 Share #25 Posted June 8, 2010 Upgrade download on Intel Mac straightforward. Open program with emailed new code from Adobe and enter new number; old M9 code is shown below, both 'ticked' if they are correct. (If you try to enter just your old code it rejects it.) I think I saw the option to carry across all the old files but I decided to make an altogether fresh start with v3.

cliffp Posted June 8, 2010 Share #30 Posted June 8, 2010 I find the white border around the image when using the 'lights out' feature rather distracting. Has anyone found a way to turn this off?

I'm not sure if just dragging it to the trash is the right way to go! I recommend "AppCleaner" to you. It is a free application, very effective for uninstalling. Make sure it doesn't catch the Library.

bad robot Posted June 8, 2010 Share #38 Posted June 8, 2010 AS far as I can tell the serial number does not come with the camera, you are emailed it after you download. Also leica says owners of the X1 are eligible to download the latest version of LR. Also you can download the software twice. I have LR 2 so I hope to be able to download LR3, and be sent the relevant serial number by leica. At the moment the owners log in area of Leica still has LR2 as the download, I will wait for this to be changed

It's fine for version 2.7, but does not work for version 3 seems we will have to pay for the upgrade ?
jsrockit Posted June 8, 2010 Share #40 Posted June 8, 2010 I always assumed that we'd have to pay for the upgrade, but didn't want to buy the upgrade if the LR2 provided with the X1 is not eligible for the upgrade. Being it is a full version, it should be eligible...but I'm hesitant.
