jdavidr Posted July 15, 2010 Share #161 Posted July 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) it's not just about money... there is some principle involved: From the Leica M9 web page (emphasis added): " Workflow Included with the Leica M9, is a license for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, a professional digital workflow solution available for both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems. The software is a free download for Leica M9 customers , to guarantee that the most current version is always available. " There is no small print I can find that says anything to the effect of... "... for a small upgrade fee", or ... "...until the next version is released", etc. So currently, they are not living up to their stated obligation. Leica is precise and exacting in every other measure. I expect a bit more from them here.

Well, obviously they´re in the middle of negotiations with Adobe (who is not known for giving things away...), so I´d say they try to do their part, at least. I´ve never felt that Leica tries to back off from given promises (with the potential exception of something new for the R lenses, but that may still be coming...). And, Dirk, since you feel $99 is just a trifle, I´d be happy if you would send that sum to me. I think it is not unsubstantial at all....
Stefan K Posted July 17, 2010 Share #163 Posted July 17, 2010 Hi all, I've not read all of this thread but I just wanted to say that I emailed Leica software support saying that I had just received my X1 and asking them to confirm that I would be able to download LR3. I got a very straightforward message back stating that "Version 3 of Lightroom will be availabe from 28 July on". Good news.

3rdtrick Posted July 19, 2010 Share #166 Posted July 19, 2010 Hope you all are right about July 28. I just downloaded LR3 and installed it as a 30 day trial. Hopefully Leica will have something for us before my 30 days are up. Anyway, the good news is that it loaded smoothly and found all my LR2 catalogs and development data. Venkman Posted July 19, 2010 Share #167 Posted July 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Every m9 owner can own a licensed copy of LR2 Exactly. I understand the "need" to have the latest version of the software and was very pleased that the C1 license that came with the M8 included a major upgrade, but the type of "I work with LR3 beta constantly and now it runs out" postings surprise me. If I consider it an essential tool, I'd rather buy an upgrade and be done with it instead of growing (more) grey hairs worrying about when it might be available - but that's probably just me. rebelfocus Posted July 28, 2010 Share #168 Posted July 28, 2010 A previous post indicated that Leica mentioned the 28th July as the day that LR3 would become available for download. Well today is the day and still no sign of it. Just wondering if anyone received any more recent update from the people at Solms?
colorflow Posted July 28, 2010 Share #169 Posted July 28, 2010 The owner's area was in maintenance this morning but is back on now. The LR download page has changed. It no longer says LR2 but just Lightroom. However, when I attempt to get the license # for download, it still asks if I wanted LR2 for pc or mac. So I did not proceed further... SoarFM Posted July 28, 2010 Share #172 Posted July 28, 2010 Just checked: still showing V2.61 in the customer area ... Just downloaded LR3 via owners page and received email from Leica with license code for LR3. All good now.
andybarton Posted July 28, 2010 Share #173 Posted July 28, 2010 Have those that are still seeing v2.x already downloaded LR via a Leica serial number? It could be that all versions of the Leica website have yet to be updated.
rebelfocus Posted July 28, 2010 Share #174 Posted July 28, 2010 I went there an hour ago. It's less obvious than before if you are going to get v2 or v3 as the graphic for Lightroom seems to more generic than before (I think) Once I selected my serial number and entered the TAN it offered me LR3 and the serial number generated worked just fine. Great to have LR3 now! Thanks Leica!
ace5426 Posted July 28, 2010 Share #175 Posted July 28, 2010 I had already dowloaded LR2 and was only offered that version and not LR3 today when I looked in on the new download page.
mweiner Posted July 29, 2010 Share #176 Posted July 29, 2010 Here is my story from just now: I had registered my M9 shortly after I received it in October (and have been waiting to hear a crack). I did not download a LR nor use my TAN. Just now I went to the owners area, logged in, > Benefits and requested LR. I was offerred LR 3 and invited to enter my serial # and TAN. The LR 3 download is proceeding and I just received an activating license number via email. Unless there is a subsequent post by me to the contrary, you can assume I've been able to activate the Leica provided LR 3. From what I am interpreting from other posts, if I had used my TAN to download a LR 2, I might have been offered only a LR 2 to download and license. hoppyman Posted July 29, 2010 Share #177 Posted July 29, 2010 Yes. Worked fine for me. The serial number came via a separate mail. I just used it to activate the trial version that I already had installed. It works.
zlatkob Posted July 29, 2010 Share #178 Posted July 29, 2010 Yes. Worked fine for me. The serial number came via a separate mail. I just used it to activate the trial version that I already had installed. It works. Same here. I've been using LR2, which I bought long before the M9, so there was no need to use the TAN for it. More recently, I used the LR3 trial until it expired.
RoySmith Posted July 29, 2010 Share #179 Posted July 29, 2010 Yes. Worked fine for me. The serial number came via a separate mail. I just used it to activate the trial version that I already had installed. It works. Same here. This came 2 days before my 30 day trial expired - good timing by Leica and Adobe. Rolo Posted July 29, 2010 Share #180 Posted July 29, 2010 Downloaded and installed Lightroom 3 without a problem. I purchased my M9 in December, 2009 and didn't activate the Lightroom download as I already had LR v2.7. Following advice above, accessed the Leica Owner's area (on RHS of Home page) and after completing registration data given the option to download Lightroom, selecting version 3 for Mac. By the time I'd packed my TAN number back in the box, I'd received an email from Leica with the Adobe License Number. On opening, LR3 provides the option to submit License Number which worked perfectly. All done. Hope that helps.
