robert blu Posted February 26, 2011 Share #41 Â Posted February 26, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have my one since Christmas time. No defects. It works. I miss a few shots because of slow autofocus. Yes. But this happened me also with other cameras, when I was slow to focus. But i also got some pictures that I has not got without the x1. Why ? Simply because of its size I have it very oft with me. I had not a bigger camera so oft with me. At the end, for me, the pro and contra are balancing themselves. robert

Matus Kalisky Posted May 2, 2011 Share #42 Â Posted May 2, 2011 For the record I have had no peeling skin, my dials are fine, and my battery door is flush ... Â and how is your X1 doing in this respect? .... sorry could not resist
Guest badbob Posted May 2, 2011 Share #43  Posted May 2, 2011 and how is your X1 doing in this respect? .... sorry could not resist  My X1 skin is intact, the wheels get changed easily but are still on the camera, and the battery door is almost flush. I feel lucky.
jsrockit Posted May 3, 2011 Share #44 Â Posted May 3, 2011 I had the skin issue... sent it to Leica and had them put the black X1's "leather" on my silver X1. Much nicer.
davidhunternyc Posted May 3, 2011 Author Share #45 Â Posted May 3, 2011 I had the skin issue... sent it to Leica and had them put the black X1's "leather" on my silver X1. Much nicer. Â Leica should've done this from the beginning. When I first got my X1, I was shocked with the extremely cheap plastic skin. For $2200, I expected something that cost more than pennies to make. Can you post photos of the new skin on your X1? Thanks.
stephen.w Posted May 3, 2011 Share #46 Â Posted May 3, 2011 I would also prefer the vulcanite that they now put on the black model, but even the MP comes with a very cheap-looking covering. To each their own, I guess.
RT_NEY Posted May 3, 2011 Share #47 Â Posted May 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've had the X1 for 4 months, still in immaculate condition (which so is my Nikon D70s, D200, D300, Leica D-lux 5, Canon S90, Canon IXUS 950. To me it's an investment not something to abuse and throw around.
RT_NEY Posted May 3, 2011 Share #48 Â Posted May 3, 2011 I went down to my local marina with both my D700 and X1....the X1 produces some stunning shots..The X1 is not that slow after 2.0 update..almost every shot was very good..except when I had it in manual focus, that i forgot to change. the color rendition comes out like my Nikon D200..I will post a pic at a later time. coz I'm still at work. Matus Kalisky Posted May 3, 2011 Share #49 Â Posted May 3, 2011 I had the skin issue... sent it to Leica and had them put the black X1's "leather" on my silver X1. Much nicer. Â Does this mean that the black X1 have a better cover than the silver ones or do all X1s now have the better leather cover? Were there any other updates on the X1 since it was introduced to the market? I had one briefly in hand in a shop, but of course have no idea how "old" it was ... davidhunternyc Posted May 4, 2011 Author Share #50 Â Posted May 4, 2011 Yes, the black X1 has better skin/vulcanite than the silver X1. Come on, Leica. You are going to have to up the ante.

hg2303 Posted May 11, 2011 Share #52 Â Posted May 11, 2011 I am from Holland and my X1 got a peeling skin. So it seems that the first production also went to Holland. The peeling is not much as I have my camera in a Luigi Case but still it's not nice....
