Like many of us, I suffered from front- or backfocussing and painstakingly had to send my M8 and lenses in for proper adjustment.

Now I wonder : how did those of you who have several M bodies finally succeeded in calibrating all their lenses with all their bodies to avoid these issues (apart focus shift, which is another matter, albeit related) ?

Did you send the whole lot to Solms asking Stefan Daniel  to adjust everything or what ?

Actually, in the end I only had two out of twelve lenses calibrated by Will van manen and one returned to Leica for an obvious error, plus my M9 readjusted seperately and everything is spot-on now

i sent a 50mm to solms for coding, and sent the m8 and 75mm summilux along at the same time for adjustment. no issues with other lenses. :)

waiting to see what (if anything) is required with an m9.

greetings from hamburg

Thank you all.

Now I need a second body to complement my M8.

Two options :

- I can get an M8.2, 1 year warranty, for 2500 € (around)

or an M.8, 18 months warranty, for 1800 €.

Is the M8.2 worth the 700 € premium ?

If it's not too late, get the M8, definitely. But make sure you are getting a later batch, December 2007 and after (check the serial number).

regards.

Why should that be:confused:

This is a late batch M8, and the seller tells me it's sapphire glass. Bit I called Oliver Vogler in Solms, who told no M8 were equipped with sapphire, unless under option.

Apparently, some late batches were mounted whit those. Is there a way to tell them apart — except asking my wife to scratch her 840 carats  diamond across the display ? :D
