I'm thinking the inspiration might be the Lancia Stratos.  Perhaps the new Stratos from the better part of a decade ago?

Congratulation, Stuart!

It´s the London based Fenomenon Stratos design model (I think not fully road going). Designer is Stratos collector Chris Hrabalek who had 9 (NINE!) original Stratos in his collection when he was in his mid-twenties. A small series was planned but never made it. Only some cars were made. The most developed and tested one by Michael Stoschek. Based on a Ferrari 430 Scuderia.

Really sad, this would have been a "fun car".

Thank you Rona|d.  Too bad it wasn't a success.

Here's a very generous crop (with some messiness due to cloning out things in the background, and of course hiding the logo) from this year's NY International Auto Show:

There is a faint odour of Goggomobil about it but in any case, it definitely has swing rear axles  :) The other company I wondered about was Lidovka in Czechoslovakia, who made a series of prototypes/low production models in the 40's and 50's: T6, T7 etc.

Thank you Stuart … and Wilson (Subaru) . Apologies for being a little late replying. Just started attending the new season's UK spring classic car events so have some interesting images to share … will sort one for the next round asap.

Here's the next 'Name this car …' …it's 1960s, and likely restored but no trace of the 'F' suffix registration /make when checked on DVLA website.

Make, model and year (ish) please …. and if you can identify the exact model you'll likely be able to state the type of engine too.

Best wishes

It's got that cod transatlantic Vauxhall Cresta feel about it. They had a rather nice 3.3L straight six in the latter part of their life, which I think was a Holden engine. All you ever had to do was change the oil plus plugs and they would do 300,000 miles if a bit on the thirsty side. I never understood why the police preferred the troublesome Mark 4 Ford Zephyrs (head gaskets, big ends, rear suspension bushes, etc, etc, etc).
