wlaidlaw Posted April 24, 2014 Share #6303 Posted April 24, 2014 Alfa Romeo Alfetta Spider Pininfarina (1972) Rgds Gerd Correct. Given some of the weird decisions made by Alfa Romeo, it is amazing that this monstrosity escaped production. A Pontiac Bonneville crashed into an X1/9. As for the Wolfrace wheels, which Farina must have bought in some North London speed shop.....Mind you given my experience of a 1972 Alfetta, a couple of showers of rain and it would have turned into a heap of iron oxide sitting on the ground. Your turn. Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! Photoskeptic Posted April 25, 2014 Share #6306 Posted April 25, 2014 Wilson, actually I was going to guess a car from the past, but the 4-bolt wheels kept me from it. Remember the Ghia bodied Barracuda? I think it was called a 450SS, but my memory doesn't work so well anymore...
wlaidlaw Posted April 25, 2014 Share #6307 Posted April 25, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) John, You can’t compare that Alfa gargoyle with the Ghia Barracuda. That one I would have in my garage any day - very handsome and quick as well. All it would need would be some tlc to the brakes, shock absorbers and steering box. Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted April 27, 2014 Share #6309 Posted April 27, 2014 The Coldstream Guard cutout suggests it is made in the UK. Perhaps Rover 2000?
gmo Posted April 28, 2014 Share #6310 Posted April 28, 2014 Stuny, UK yes but not Rover. Gerd
stuny Posted April 28, 2014 Share #6311 Posted April 28, 2014 The hint of fins and the bumper style suggests between 1955 and 1963.

DigitalHeMan Posted April 30, 2014 Share #6316 Posted April 30, 2014 Vauxhall? Maybe a Cresta? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Photoskeptic Posted April 30, 2014 Share #6317 Posted April 30, 2014 Looks like a Bertone emblem on the glove box and the horn button emblem, though difficult to make out, seems similar to a Hillman. Maybe these are clues?
gmo Posted April 30, 2014 Share #6318 Posted April 30, 2014 No Vauxhall, no Cresta and no Hillman But definitely an Italian coach builder not Bertone but you can see it in the next fragment. Rona!d Posted April 30, 2014 Share #6319 Posted April 30, 2014 Just clicked this thread after a while and am pleased to see a Sunbeam Venezia Superleggera here. Touring made about 200 of them in aluminium body. Maybe 10% may have survived.
gmo Posted May 1, 2014 Share #6320 Posted May 1, 2014 Correct Ronald, I saw this one at Antwerp's Classic Car event earlier this year. From the license plate you can see that at least one of the survivors is located in Belgium. Over to you and here is the complete picture of the car. Welcome, dear visitor!
