stuny Posted November 22, 2013 Share #5787 Posted November 22, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Right country, wrong manufacturer. This was made in the US Midwest, but not in Detroit, or Michigan.
Rona!d Posted November 22, 2013 Share #5788 Posted November 22, 2013 I was tempted to say it´s an Auburn 8-88 Speedster, maybe 1928 model. BUT, I´m German and am not good in US cars.

stuny Posted November 22, 2013 Share #5790 Posted November 22, 2013 I thought that either Rona|d or Wilson would get it (unless of course Allen Brewer were still active on the Forum, living near the old Auburn, Cord Duesenberg factory). Wilson is close but Ronald is correct. Here's a nother view of the Auburn Boat tailed Speedster: Your turn Welcome, dear visitor! Rona!d Posted November 22, 2013 Share #5791 Posted November 22, 2013 This is a nice older one, Stu. Must be 1928 model indeed. Ok, it´s weekend, I should find a car tomorrow.
Rona!d Posted November 26, 2013 Share #5792 Posted November 26, 2013 Sorry guys, took me a while to find something nice and the weekend was full of work. Please name the maker, model, style and coachbuilder. Extra points for year made and name of the current owner. Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted November 26, 2013 Share #5793 Posted November 26, 2013 I would guess the year around 1909-14 and it could be a boat tailed Silver Ghost Skiff, which were boded by various coach builders, Brewster etc. Wilson
Rona!d Posted November 26, 2013 Share #5794 Posted November 26, 2013 So far you are on a good trace, 1914, Silver Ghost. Any further details?
Rona!d Posted November 26, 2013 Share #5795 Posted November 26, 2013 Not a Brewster and a pretty special and nice make.
wlaidlaw Posted November 26, 2013 Share #5796 Posted November 26, 2013 Ronald, I would guess this is the Shapiro Schebera Skiff 54PB. If it is that one, I wonder if there is something “wrong” with this car, as it keeps changing hands, which is unusual for a Ghost. Most people who buy Ghosts, keep them for years, unless they upgrade to a better one. It keeps appearing in the catalogues that RM send me. There are a number of notorious “Auction Queens”, which may look fantastic but are not nice to drive and keep reappearing. Wilson
Rona!d Posted November 26, 2013 Share #5797 Posted November 26, 2013 Nope, it isn´t, Wilson. You are right about good Ghosts and I think this one is a keeper and is hard to be upgraded by another one of this model. No experience how this individual car drives, but the company who restored it should know what to do. Here another crop which may be helpful. Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted November 27, 2013 Share #5798 Posted November 27, 2013 Ronald, There is a dark red 1914 one similar to this, being a twin screen tourer with I think a Barker body (the rearward spare wheel mount is a common Barker feature) but I cannot remember who owns it. Wilson
Rona!d Posted November 27, 2013 Share #5799 Posted November 27, 2013 Wilson, this is indeed a 1914 model, but not a Barker. Think of a maker which sounds a bit like your first name and also think of a famous drive between two capitols on an island
wlaidlaw Posted November 27, 2013 Share #5800 Posted November 27, 2013 Ronald, The red one I mentioned above is a London to Edinburgh car like ours but later. Our 1911 one is bodied by Weymann, so maybe this L to E is as well. Our early one was converted to a 4 speed box in period, with an overdrive top. The only change we have made is to fit the Continental bigger brakes, as we needed new drums anyway. Wilson
