stuny Posted July 25, 2012 Share #3781 Posted July 25, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Makes me think of the Audi sold in the US in the late '70s as a Fox.
Advertisement Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Hi stuny, Take a look here Name this car..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Andreas.Pichler Posted July 26, 2012 Share #3782 Posted July 26, 2012 Andreas (A.J.Z.) has got it - Mercedes Benz 190er series (the riddle car is exactly a Diesel car, but you cant see it from this perspective), also known as "Baby Benz". The first attempt of Mercedes to produce "small" cars, forced by the californian laws which restricted the fuel consumption of the whole "fleet" of a maker. So to sell their S-Klasse Mercedes, they have to offer an economical car as well. Produced at a high level of quality, the "Bay Benz" was in the market from 1982 to 1992, and there are still lots of them on the streets. Cheers, Andreas Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted July 26, 2012 Share #3784 Posted July 26, 2012 The California law expanded to become federal, and is referred to as CAFE: Corporate Average Fuel Economy, which is computed by averaging the amount of fuel used by a manufacturer's autos, factoring in the expected numbers to be sold of each model.
a.j.z Posted July 26, 2012 Share #3785 Posted July 26, 2012 Thanks, very nice way of hiding the car but the recognizable shape and the mirror made an E190 my first thought although it is of course very rare compared to the Mosler I will post something later today (no access to suitable pics now).
Andreas.Pichler Posted July 26, 2012 Share #3786 Posted July 26, 2012 (edited) Nice color! Its called "night green metallic" ("nachtgrünmetallic"), very elegant compared to the green colors available after the major update 1988. Cheers, Andreas PS: The "OM 601" on the number plate is the Mercedes engine code of the Mercedes Benz 190D and stands for "Oel Motor 601" ("Oel Motor" means Diesel engine). By the way, beside the Moslers the only non-MG in my garage ;-) Bought it in 2004 with only 40.000 kilometers in a like-new condition - could'nt resist! steed Posted July 26, 2012 Share #3790 Posted July 26, 2012 If it is not Russian, is it the Cadillac from which the Russians drew inspiration?
a.j.z Posted July 26, 2012 Share #3791 Posted July 26, 2012 Yes, I am looking for a very special one with prominent passengers
Rona!d Posted July 27, 2012 Share #3792 Posted July 27, 2012 This could well be a funeral Cadillac (maybe S&S Landau Hearse, 6th generation Fleetwood Brougham). I´m not sure which famous passenger you have in mind, there were so many, for example Marlene Dietrich.
Rona!d Posted July 27, 2012 Share #3793 Posted July 27, 2012 Its a 1965 Fleetwood 75 from geman coachbuilder Pollmann. Passengers? Marlene Dietrich, Paul Löbe, Benno Ohnesorg, Herbert Marcuse, Günter Pfitzmann, Horst Buchholz. These names give a strong hint it´s a car mainly used in Berlin. I was just about to post a clue because I thougth that it is too difficult. You got the right car and passengers on their last trip. It is indeed a Cadillac Fleetwood 75 Commerce used by the funeral parlor Julius Grieneisen, Berlin. Over to you! Welcome, dear visitor! Rona!d Posted July 27, 2012 Share #3796 Posted July 27, 2012 damn, I was searching, but mostly all of them have their lights horizontaly and not vertically ....v:ovv:p Thats why I thought of something "special". Knew the decade and maker because of the details, but had to make a decision between the both mentioned coachbuilders. It was quite uncommon that a coachbuilder from Bremen/Gemany made Cadillacs, so this IS exotic! Pollmann had a long history with a (partly) bad end. Luckily a division of ex-workers could split up as a service company and buy the patents for funeral cars back. I'll post something tomorrow (today).
