Guest Holy Moly Posted December 18, 2011 Share #2581 Posted December 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks, Ronald. From an oldtimer meeting here is a very difficult (for outside UK members) car from the fifties. Even it's lefthanddrive it's a very popular brand all over the world....... The headlights look a bit like Honda S800 Coupé, but it's not from Japan.... Welcome, dear visitor! Andreas.Pichler Posted December 18, 2011 Share #2590 Posted December 18, 2011 Yeahhhh! Oh boy, look at #2575 - your "no" cost me some hours research today, now I am totally up to date to the whole Anglia range ;-) Ja, Prefect is a combination of Anglia body and mechanical parts from other Fords (tyical british car engineering: "Lets have a look for the leftovers in the shelf...". The Squire and the Escort have been the van versions. Okay, if I understand it right, its me with the next picture? I will grab my Leica, and go for a short walk into the garage... Andreas.Pichler Posted December 18, 2011 Share #2591 Posted December 18, 2011 So, here we are...decided to take one from my archive instead of one in the garage, to make it a little bit easier for you. Again we are taling about right hand driven cars, and again its a sort of evolution... And the name of this car is - do you know it? Cheers, Andreas Welcome, dear visitor! Rona!d Posted December 19, 2011 Share #2593 Posted December 19, 2011 Let's see if I'm on the right track: BMC > ADO 16 > MKII > MG > 1300 > Crayford Convertible
Rona!d Posted December 19, 2011 Share #2594 Posted December 19, 2011 Crayford opened the MG and Morris ADO16 mk2 models, six made of each. Five Morris still exist, but only that one MG.
Andreas.Pichler Posted December 19, 2011 Share #2595 Posted December 19, 2011 Seems to be too easy...Ronald, you are right, ADO 16, MG 1100/1300 Crayford-bodied. Rona!d Posted December 19, 2011 Share #2596 Posted December 19, 2011 (edited) Unique car, does it still belong to mister R.M.? How about the reinforcements? Does it feel quite soft on bad roads? Next car coming soon. Edited December 19, 2011 by Rona|d
Bill Allsopp Posted December 19, 2011 Share #2597 Posted December 19, 2011 Wonderful find. I have never heard of this model before.
Rona!d Posted December 19, 2011 Share #2598 Posted December 19, 2011 The MG nose is one of the nicer ones, gave the car the nick "poor mans Jag" (like some other cars too).
Andreas.Pichler Posted December 19, 2011 Share #2599 Posted December 19, 2011 Ja, it is indeed a nice car. ADO 16 is a very good example of british badge engineering, there a so much variants in engine and body and interior as well. Its still in the hands of R.M., and he is using the car quite often. Until now, I have heard no complaints concerning ride quality. Cheers, Andreas
