Actually I'm rather glad I don't have to try to find any more crops as it was difficult finding details which didn't scream "McLaren!!!" at full voice... It might not be the prettiest supercar ever created but, my word, it sure is fully-sculptured; a piece of Art in its own right. The more one looks the more one realises that it really is an extraordinary piece of automotive design. For reasons which will become obvious I couldn't even post a colour photograph... Well done to Andreas and thanks, all, for playing along! Philip. EDIT : Camera was an M-D Typ-262; lens was a 28mm Elmarit asph v1 if any of that needs to be mentioned(?) to comply with Forum Rules. a.j.z Posted June 9 Share #23487 Posted June 9 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks! Yes, the colour would have given it away immediately 😃 I did not really have a clue after the first crop - other than that it is expensive. The second indeed said “McLaren”. For my taste they look too much like form follows function - like an F1 car that you also would consider fascinating but not beautiful. I will look for a new one later. If anyone else has a nice one, please go ahead though. PS: I think that we once agreed to take the rule about Leica equipment not too serious here, as the thread otherwise would maybe not survive.

pippy Posted June 9 Share #23493 Posted June 9 It looks like a VW Typ-1 (Beetle) lens and mounting ring yet although I'm quite familiar with many of the coachbuilt variations I've never (to the best of my knowledge) seen any with the circular louvered vent outboard of the headlamp. Might I ask; was this a production car and, if so, is / was there a VW connection? Philip.
a.j.z Posted June 10 Share #23494 Posted June 10 Very well observed! Yes, this car is based on VW parts.

wlaidlaw Posted June 10 Share #23497 Posted June 10 VW Denzel? Wilson
pippy Posted June 10 Share #23498 Posted June 10 (edited) 2 hours ago, wlaidlaw said: VW Denzel? Wilson Ah! You could well be correct, Wilson! Certainly the bonnet-shape and moulding around the headlamp bezel suggest that it is a Denzel although the bracing of the screen seems different. Normally (at least on those few examples I came across back in my VW days!) there would be a turn-indicator lens where the aforementioned vented orifice is located but I believe that there were some Denzels made purely for track use which could mean that the slots are there to aid with cooling the brakes? Of course it is equally possible that some bodywork detailing was changed even on the regular production cars over the six (some sources say seven) years during which they were manufactured. Philip. wlaidlaw Posted June 10 Share #23499 Posted June 10 Philip, I suspect the aerodynamic spoiler lip on the front valance is also a later edition. Wilson

No, that is not the case. Leica lens or camera, or a lens from the consortium of Leica mounts.
