Advertisement Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Hi a.j.z, Take a look here Name this car..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted February 26 Share #23162 Posted February 26 This looks most interesting. My first thought was pre-war British due to the spare, and piping between the wing and the main body. But if the wheels are an indicator, it's probably much newer, such as the '60s. Alternatively, if a Morgan, maybe even very much newer.
Graham (G4FUJ) Posted February 26 Share #23163 Posted February 26 (edited) That's a Morgan back end. Wheel would point to either a 4/4 or Plus4. Probably 1960s, perhaps a little earlier? OK, from following post, it isn't! Edited February 26 by Graham (G4FUJ)
a.j.z Posted February 26 Share #23164 Posted February 26 Yes to pre-war but not British.
wlaidlaw Posted February 26 Share #23165 Posted February 26 The wheels have a slight Italian flavour to them. Wilson
a.j.z Posted February 26 Share #23166 Posted February 26 No Morgan, altough they have something in common, but presumably unintended.

wlaidlaw Posted February 26 Share #23174 Posted February 26 Maybe that Czech rarity an Aero 50? Wilson
stuny Posted February 27 Share #23175 Posted February 27 I think this will be really esoteric. Maybe a sigma roadster, and if not that a small production retro-car
a.j.z Posted February 27 Share #23176 Posted February 27 Aero is correct, I am impressed! I am not 100% sure regarding the model, but it is not a 50. The cars were parked in the street behind my office. Obviously an excursion of the Aero club, but the drivers were not there, so I could not get any further details on the cars. Interestingly there is a Morgan Aero but I do not think that this is reference to the Czech cars.
stuny Posted February 27 Share #23177 Posted February 27 Yes, Morgan made Aero 8 and now Aero 6 models, no relation to the Czech company. I look forward to seeing your full photos of the Czech Aero.

EDIT : I had never heard of the car manufacturer 'Aero' previously so have just had a look at their entry in Wiki. Very interesting company with some peculiar (to UK eyes) and rather attractive cars (as a guess is the featured car an Aero Type 30?). From the Wiki entry I was particularly drawn to the 'Aero Monoposto' pictured in the article and have since tried to discover a little more information. Not much to go on apart from the photograph was taken in the SIHA pavillion at one year's Essen Techno Classica (apparently!). After a little bit more scrabbling around I found this one link which says the car was built in 1927 and was powered by a two-cylinder engine displacing 787cc and which produced 35bhp; https://fastestlaps.com/models/aero-monoposto Edited February 27 by pippy

The first Morgan Aero was on the 3 wheeler. Not heard of an Aero 6 (unless that is the name for the yet to be released new top of the line car to replace the Plus Six).
