Yes, a Ford Mustero, essentially a Mustang pickup truck. The name is a mix of Mustang and  Ranchero.

Here is the story behind it: https://www.ford-trucks.com/articles/1966-ford-mustero-the-history-behind-fords-bizarre-mustang-ranchero-mashup/

The hint regarding the colour referred to the green used for Bullitt Mustangs.

Stuart,

Do you know if they bought the grilles as spare parts from the local Jaguar dealer (XK120)?

Open to all to post the next car.

No idea, but it does look like an XK grill

Stuart,

The grille according to Georgano was made by Braje Company of Los Angeles. It actually resembles the later XK140 grille rather than the XK120, which was narrower, had fewer and wider spaced bars. So unless Nick Brajevich had access to a time machine, it might be that Jaguar copied his grille rather than the other way round.

This is most definitely NOT the next mystery car per se but it IS a bit of a mystery car so if anyone has any ideas as to its origins I'd be delighted to learn!

It was snapped by a friend the other week when he and the missus were on a road trip through the deserts of Namibia and he wondered if I knew what it might be. I replied that although I, myself, hadn't the foggiest I might know a number of folks who would know exactly which model-year it was let alone which model...

The split rear-window does ring a bell but for the life of me I don't know why. Apologies for the poor quality but it wasn't exactly the main subject matter for the holiday snap...😸...
