Ogle SX1000 GT?

No; not an Ogle, Wilson.

Let's start with small British coupe with an aftermarket steering wheel, perhaps late '60s- early '70s

Correct in that it is a British Coupe from the '70s but as far as I know (could well be mistaken!) the 'wheel is the original.

The manufacturer had a projected sales figure of c. 30,000. Unfortunately some worldly matters went belly-up and actual sales fell short of this target by more than 99%...

Another bit?

Sunbeam Stiletto?

Getting closer - more 'mainstream' manufacturer than was the case with the Ogle - but no, Wilson, not a Sunbeam.

This next crop, believe it or not, holds a good clue;

Vauxhall Viva coupé ?

My Grandad had a 4 door; I remember the trim being a big step down from the Hillman Hunter he had before it.

Vauxhall Viva coupé ?...

Yes again; it is a Vauxhall and although this actual model isn't quite a Viva Coupé you are VERY close...

This should help clear up any doubt as to its specific model name - and, famously, its nickname(!);

Firenza, droop snoot.

Well done, Graham; it is, of course, a 'Droop-Snoot' Firenza although before the last crop it would have been difficult for anyone to have known that due to the 'giveaways' in the earlier snaps being so (seemingly) insignificant...

This example was spotted on display at Brooklands during their recent Motorsport open day. Quite fitting, really, considering an example of another droop-snoot model, Concorde, was sitting less than 100m away......😺......

According to the Wiki entry there were a mere 204 of these manufactured making it quite a rare - and, nowadays, desirable - car. Interesting to read about how this sloping frontal treatment went on to influence the look of subsequent cars from Vauxhall and, oddly enough, Ford. A bit about it in the 'High Performance Firenza' section in the link posted below. Interesting, too, to read about the wheels!

I always did like these when I was a kid and it was nice to see one in such well-cared condition. Full pic;

I should have got it with the first photo :)   An amateur radio friend and I were seriously into the club rallying scene towards the end of Firenza production, though I think the majority of these went circuit racing / sprints if used in competition.

Don't all shout at once!......😸......

Hmmm. A tight detail showing the very shapely (IMO!) nose-profile? Might a touch of colour help the dating-process as well?

Looks 70s plastic fantastic…not sure on the bonnet scoops - the Piper doesn’t have those. Looks a bit more “kit” maybe?

'Drastic Plastic' it most certainly is although whether some cars was completed 'in factory' (a la Lotus 7) or whether they all had to be built-up at home from a kit seems to be something of a grey area.

The whole production-era of these cars is a bit tangled...

The most well-known (at least to me!) offering was originally created in England at the start of the '70s but there were officially licenced examples constructed in numerous other countries where (according to the  Wiki entry) these cars were known by no fewer than eleven(!) different names. Crikey!

The original manufacturer went bust towards the end of that decade but the manufacturing rights were acquired by another company and the model continued in production through to the 1990s. In total there were at least five different companies in England who made these things but all bar the original used the model-name of this car in their own company title.

A crop of the door might prove illuminating......😸......

Is it a Sterling Nova (VW powered)?...

It is certainly a Nova although it is impossible for me to say which 'parent' was responsible for this example. This is primarily due to the car sporting a number plate which would date the car to 1969 - two years before the Nova was released - so my guess is that the VW floorpan on which it is built dated to that year.

As can be seen in this link the original UK manufacturers (1971 - '78) were named Automotive Design and Development (ADD) after which time subsequent manufacturers called themselves variations of Nova Cars and the like;

https://www.allcarindex.com/brand/united-kingdom/nova

Here's the ubiquitous Wiki entry where they list different model-names released in countries from Austria to Zimbabwe;

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automotive_Design_and_Development
