Advertisement Posted Thursday at 07:01 PM Posted Thursday at 07:01 PM Hi dkCambridgeshire, Take a look here Name this car..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
dkCambridgeshire Posted Thursday at 07:31 PM Share #24022 Posted Thursday at 07:31 PM (edited) Just researched a little more and some later export versions of this car were fitted with Rover and Perkins engines – but the original aluminium 2.5L (ish) OHV engine for this model was designed / manufactured in its country of origin. Yes, the "look" = 'Wyvern / early Cresta - ish ..... but incorrect. More Ford influenced than GM, however, it's an original country of origin design. Export models fitted with Perkins and Rover diesel engines used as taxis – and engines fitted 'abroad'. Current owner was unexpectedly offered this example by the o/seas restoration co. (a thriving business which satisfies the strong demand for this model) after the intended customer went awol. This is the third generation of the original model. Total production c. 640K Ten seat mini-bus and ambulance versions available. A special 100mph + version with a 5.53L V8 engine was also offered but only 603 examples manufactured. An easy to maintain classic car with a good ground clearance (fine for rough terrain) and successful (ish for its class) rallying history. BW, dunk . dkCambridgeshire Posted 21 hours ago Share #24033 Posted 21 hours ago (edited) The Volga's recent history ref current owner's interview article might be of interest – should be just about readable if enlarged – image cropped from a previous pic and sharpened. Jay Leno has a Volga Baleen in his museum and there's a You Tube video for perusal if interested; no link posted as it could be deemed a little, 'hmmmm!!!' ref JL's comments. When I accessed same the next prompted JL video was a Daimler Dart restored by JL's team and includes its post restoration first test drive – and its mystery overheating / coolant leak. Slightly suspect story because even a 710 would have opened the hood to investigate; the JL team did not raise the hood to investigate the steam source. Car was driven back to the mother ship including 'coasting downhill in neutral' – and on arrival, hood raised and coolant leak identified.
