wlaidlaw Posted August 18 Share #23744 Posted August 18 With a Ford V8 5.8L fuel injection engine. If they had wanted a car that at least sounded right (a straight 8 has a totally different engine note from a V8), they would have been better to source a Rolls Royce B80/81 ex-military straight eight gasoline engine, converted and tweaked for classic car use with 4 SU carburettors, from the likes of Vintage Green Racing or Henry Peterson in the UK. Henry even does a supercharged version of the B81 engine making 400 HP. There are loads of these B80 and B81 engines sitting in military scrap yards. They were used in various Alvis military vehicles, as a winch engine on the Centurion Armoured Recovery Vehicle and surprisingly in the German Schützenpanzer Lang HS.30. The only problem is that they are a nightmare to work on. I did a head gasket replacement on a B80 in a friend's Bentley Special and the head is held on by about 40+ fine thread nuts on studs. This was before the days of battery powered rattle guns and at that time, I did not even have a compressed air gun, so a lot of winding. Open to all to post the next car. Graham (G4FUJ) Posted August 19 Share #23752 Posted August 19 I'd be happy with an occasional motorcycle. Or perhaps there should be a new "Name this motorcycle" thread? Not that I'm likely to be any better at it than I have been with cars
wlaidlaw Posted August 19 Share #23753 Posted August 19 I would opt for a separate thread for M/C I wonder if the car might be a Reliant Rebel? Wilson

Wilson I was thinking of 'motorcycle combination' (i.e., three wheeler) because I recently saw a 'photogenic' example. Just a thought. Wilson, it's not a Reliant Rebel but the manufacturer did use fibre glass in some models but maybe not in this example. BW, dunk
