Kt is a small to medium car, but not a Riley.  Here's another piece of the puzzle:

Not an Austin.  This company has been defunct for over half a century, but it started making cars at the beginning of the 20th century.  Before that the company did other things.

Stuart,

It was the bicycles and motorbikes that gave me a clue. It had to be either Triumph or Singer and I knew it did not have the Triumph proboscis, like the Dolomite my father had pre-war (and pre-marriage), after which he changed to a more "sensible" 1939 Vauxhall 14/6, which he came to loathe.

As usual for me, open to all to post a new mystery car.

Interestingly, George Singer's first important innovation was to provide caster on the front forks of a Penny Farthing bicycle, which provided a measure of self centering, making them considerably safer. At a later point, he was one of the first companies to make a small and light car with all the features of a larger one, with the 4 cylinder 1912 Singer 10.
