My Goodness! What a HORROR!

And I thought the Aston Martin V8 Zagato was about as 'Ugly as Ugly Gets' in the Zagato Universe. How Wrong I Was!......😸......

Truly awful in every possible way and in every possible area. It is almost as if they took a selection of body-designs from a number of design-tables and created a collage...

On the 'Upside'? I'm sure Tim Burton would be a fan of the grotesque nature of its aesthetics!

Had you typed a full-stop after the word "me" you would have been correct in every detail......😸......

You got it, Wilson. I am not able to verify the L designation, as the placard on the car ( I shot this image at the 2015 Carmel 'Cars-on-the-Avenue' free Concours d'Elegance) described it as a Hawk model, but it's a '58 Packard Coupe.

A couple of small things - I don't recall ever seeing one of these in the flesh, even though I arrived on these shores in '59, so I'm unable to add any personal history or observations about this relatively rare vehicle, but a little further Wikepedia / Google 'research' revealed that only 588 Hawks were made before the whole merged Studebaker-Packard organization collapsed in bankruptcy. The other interesting thing about this ( in my humble opinion absolutely hideous) automobile are the particularly ugly quad headlights. Up to that point in time all Packard's and Studebakers had single headlights, as indeed did all other US cars manufactured up to '58. As a matter of fact, I found that there was a federal law in effect restricting passenger cars to two headlights, which was lifted sometimes in late '58, thus allowing quad headlights, something very quickly embraced by all the US manufacturers. Packard, being on extremely thin financial ice at the time did not posses the resources to restyle the cars, but hastily commissioned its styling department to come up with a four headlight kit, which was mailed to purchasers of the Hawk coupes.

Your turn, Wilson.

It probably has the Packard "boat anchor"  320 or 358 inch V8. This was rather heavy and made for endurance and not for speed. I assume there were two different designers for the front and rear of the car and they did not talk to each other.

As usual with me, open to anyone who would like to post a new mystery image.

I presume that is vandalism on the bumper not a strange logo.

I don't think it's vandalism, or scratches Wilson - I submit that what we're looking at are reflections off the rounded, inward-curving sculpted recess for the rear license plate.......which may be all well & good,m but I still have no inkling of what the damned thing is.
