Humber Super Snipe mid 60’s era..

Absolutely correct, Indeepthought, and you have pretty much nailed the answer. For the 'Cigar' would you care to specify which specific 'Series' of Super Snipe as there was a model-change in 1964?

For the 'narrowing-down' process you will find this pic to be your friend...

We Have a Winner!

Well Done, Indeepthought, and you are spot-on.

The Mystery Car dates to the early months of 1964 and is a 'Series IV' example with the slightly more rounded treatment to the rear window outline in comparison to the post-October 1964 Series V cars. Sadly by late 1967 Humber was fully at the mercy of Chrysler Corp. and this once great company - which had existed since 1887 - was killed-off at that time by their new 'owners' because of 'Market Forces'. Don't get me started...

A few to finish up;

Rear panel with 'Snipe on the Wing' motif;

Four-Headlamp treatment as mentioned by Indeepthought;

Rear 3/4 view;

And finally a full snap;

Thanks for playing, everyone, and over to Indeepthought for the next one!

In which case might I wish you all the very best of good fortune, Indeepthought, for the 'incoming'?!

Hello Mr Rootes. 😀...Wilson

😸

I know it's not 'cool' to admit as much but, as kitsch as they are, I have to say I rather like some of these early-to-mid '60s Humbers such as the Hawk and Super Snipe as well as others from the Rootes Group such as the Singer Vogue and Sunbeam Rapier. Goodness Help Me but I even like the later '67 - '76 Sunbeam Rapier 'Fastback' version!

Perhaps I'm a Lost Cause and should Abandon All Hope?......😸......

Philip.

EDIT : By a strange coincidence at this moment I'm listening to 'Ascenseur Pour L'echafaud'. I hope it isn't an omen......[omg]......

You aren't the only one Philip.  Somewhere, tucked away in somebody's workshop is my father's old company car - a '66 Humber Sceptre.  His elder brother had a similar age Super Snipe, but I was well beaten to guess the car above (and would not have got any further than the base model name :) ).

Allow me to take a crack at this with something a little different. This is the only image I have of this car, but I find it interesting enough to post, since the vehicle stems from a period early in the manufacturer's history before they established their 'look" and created and finalized on a unique style.

Well seen, Nigel. That is exactly what this car is. I thought the non-Ferrari-like ( A-M style grill)  might take just a bit longer to identify, but you have it. Most un-Ferrari like appearance of any Maranello car from the period before settling on pininfarina as their 'preferred coach builder.

Thanks for participating.

Your turn.

SL / 24-90 V.E. Note: not sure why the color does not reproduce correctly as  'normal' white paint - have no excuse nor explanation why the side of the car is afflicted with the color artifacts - paint certainly wasn't / isn't pearlescent.

Since Nigel appears to be in absentia, allow me to fill in with something. The year is not so important  in this case, as all the vehicles in this run were built in a single batch and that's all they'll ever make..... but I would like the manufacturer, the important co-conspirator(s) and the model name, please.
