NigelG Posted November 15, 2023 Share #20921 Posted November 15, 2023 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I haven’t seen a BMW Isetta with those mountings…but AFAIK mirrors were retro- fitted initially so anything goes…. I had wondered if we were straying into Heinkel / Trojan territory Edited November 15, 2023 by NigelG
Advertisement Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Hi NigelG, Take a look here Name this car..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted November 15, 2023 Share #20922 Posted November 15, 2023 Here's the last Isetta I saw (at the TWA terminal at JFK, converted into a beautiful hotel), and it's a bit different from Alain's. Shortly, I'll post the next puzzle car. Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted November 15, 2023 Share #20924 Posted November 15, 2023 With those side panels looks like an Alfa Romeo. Maybe an 8C2300. Wilson
Ivan Goriup Posted November 15, 2023 Share #20925 Posted November 15, 2023 The the wire wheels, the leather strap holding down the hood panels and the arrangement of the windshield, and right hand steering all suggest an English car to me. The door sheet metal draped over the ladderframe main member in turn look to be part of a large, heavy car. The thing that throws me is the apparent 'bump' in the left-hand hood panel just ahead of the row of louvers. Since this car is obviously decades before the appearance of turbos, I'll theorize it may be equipped with one of the many Roots-type blowers available back in the '30s. Could we be looking at a Lagonda from the early '30s ? JZG
stuny Posted November 16, 2023 Share #20926 Posted November 16, 2023 Not Alfa nor Lagonda, but it is from the UK.

stuny Posted November 16, 2023 Share #20928 Posted November 16, 2023 Not Bentley, either. This marque still produces cars.
luetz Posted November 16, 2023 Share #20929 Posted November 16, 2023 Except for the "bulge" on the hood, sure resembles a "Morgan" of sorts..
stuny Posted November 16, 2023 Share #20930 Posted November 16, 2023 No, not a Morgan. how about a bit more generous crop? Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted November 16, 2023 Share #20932 Posted November 16, 2023 Not a Jag/Swallow, but we are in the correct general era. The mystery car is from 1936.
wlaidlaw Posted November 16, 2023 Share #20933 Posted November 16, 2023 Aston Martin 2 litre. I think this car may have appeared on this thread before. Maybe it is LM22 or LM23 one of the factory team cars. Wilson
stuny Posted November 16, 2023 Share #20934 Posted November 16, 2023 I might have posted it before. It is the '36 AM LM, at the excellent Simeone Foundation Museum on the outskirts of Philadelphia. If one is into cars and near Philadelphia, one must visit it. Welcome, dear visitor! pippy Posted November 16, 2023 Share #20936 Posted November 16, 2023 OK; I think this is one which hasn't appeared before. I don't require much info and I've no idea how 'factory-spec' this car is - she certainly wasn't up for the concours prize at Pebble Beach - but I believe most features are probably 'authentic' if a bit 'incomplete'... Indeepthought Posted November 17, 2023 Share #20937 Posted November 17, 2023 Standard Eight Circa 1955-60. We had one in our family, steering column was as thick as a Player cigarette, early models had no trunk lid, entry was via folding back seat.. 😑

You are so very nearly correct that I feel the win is yours. It isn't the Standard 8 but the only exterior difference between that model and this one is the treatment of the front radiator grille. These two models shared almost all the body panels but whereas the '8' was fitted with an 803cc engine that of the mystery car displaced 948cc. If you wish to have a second bite at the cherry please feel free to do so but I think it's only fair to award you the 'Win' in any case. Here's a snap of the whole shebang with a view of the front half showing the different grille; Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted November 17, 2023 Share #20939 Posted November 17, 2023 Looks like a prospective owner said: “hang the cost, I need the power” and bought a Ten. My wife learnt to drive in her mother’s Standard 10.
