Graham (G4FUJ) Posted August 3, 2017 Share #10101  Posted August 3, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) This will give it away, pretty much... The wheels were OE fit to some models (painted silver on the RR) during this period and mainly painted this colour.

Graham (G4FUJ) Posted August 6, 2017 Share #10102 Â Posted August 6, 2017 I seem to have stopped this thread, so: it's a Land Rover, Defender 90. It's one of the very early Defenders - name originated in 1990 for the 2001 MY (ignore LR's marketing department that used to insist they were known as Defenders from the very first model in 1948, when what became the S1 was first exhibited at the Amsterdam Motor Show)... Graham (G4FUJ) Posted August 6, 2017 Share #10104 Â Posted August 6, 2017 Hello Wilson, Â That's the rear 1/3 - where Land Rovers always rust . I have a photo of the whole chassis, complete with repairs, after it was returned from galvanising. Not taken on a Leica though. I have to view (and photograph) some land/woodland later and as the Morgan is still at my local dealer waiting for a part I'll take the 90 just to get a couple of up to date photos. Â Cheers, Graham

John Z. Goriup Posted August 14, 2017 Share #10114 Â Posted August 14, 2017 That's the front of an 1965 Iso-Grifo A3 / C. Â Giotto Bizzarrini designed & built. One of these was the fastest car down the Mulsanne Straight in '65 when it won its class & placed 9th overall at LeMans. Â JZG
wlaidlaw Posted August 14, 2017 Share #10115  Posted August 14, 2017 John,  Actually it is the front of a Bizzarrini GT Strada 4.1 Concept, a modern version of the Bizzarrini 5300S, the successor to the Iso Grifo. This was taken at the 2005 Geneva Motorshow on a Digilux 2. In 1969 I was asked to sort the handling a racing version of one of these for a customer. It was the hottest car inside of any car I have driven as the exhaust manifolds are right alongside the bulkheads. I have no idea how anyone managed to race one of these at Le Mans. After just a number of short runs, the soles of my racing boots had melted.  Your turn  Wilson   Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted August 14, 2017 Share #10117  Posted August 14, 2017 Stunning looking car Wilson!  They are great to drive as well, apart from the heat soak and very quick. The 5.7L Chevvy engine which the racing ones used, produced well over 500 BHP. The engine is so far back, that it is effectively front-mid engined. The C of G is very low as well. When I was sorting one, I could just about stay with one of the Gulf GT40's which was being tested the same day, losing about a second a lap at Goodwood.  Wilson
Graham (G4FUJ) Posted August 14, 2017 Share #10118 Â Posted August 14, 2017 They sound well balanced. Â Going some at Goodwood to maintain that kind of pace. Â I've driven it (in a few classics) but not anywhere near racing speed. Fancied taking my first 4/4 there, but never did in the end. You must have some great memories. stuny Posted August 14, 2017 Share #10119  Posted August 14, 2017 I've always loved the Bizzarrinis. Here's a 1966 Bizzarrini P538 Le Mans Roadster at the Simeone Foundation Museum in Philadelphia.  Welcome, dear visitor! The engine location that far back made it a very well balanced car with neutral and benign handling, but also was responsible for the severe discomfort of excessive interior heating, but what was even worse was the compromised / uncomfortable driving position to accommodate the huge aluminum 'box' covering the engine / bellhousing next to the occupants.  The A3 - photo #2,  and the Strade - photo #3, were essntially identical cars, with minor differences in lighting, airscoops / ventilation,  and heat & sound suppression.  I'm unable to post the next puzzle car since we'ere leaving for Monterey Car Week in a few minutes, and staying  through the weekend, Please let someone else take my turn posting the next 'mystery'.  Thanks,  JZG Welcome, dear visitor!
