dkCambridgeshire Posted June 10, 2017 Share #9902  Posted June 10, 2017 Not a Lotus but 'Lotus based' … it's actually a 1968 Crayford Cortina 1600E Mk II which has the lowered Lotus suspension and the GT 1600 engine   Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted June 10, 2017 Share #9904 Â Posted June 10, 2017 Stuart, Â I am still without my laptop. Of course Apple France had failed to order a QWERTY keyboard, when I first requested and arranged the repair, so now one has to come from either The Netherlands or Ireland and if they have not one in stock, from China. It was only ordered today, so it may be some time before I get it back. I have no images on my iPad, so may I pass the baton to you. Â Lotus used to have one of those Cortina convertibles, I assume a Crayford, at the Wymondham test track, with a hot and enlarged twin cam engine in it. It has all the torsional rigidity of a well boiled noodle. It was a standard joke to let a journalist go out in this car and then look to see if he had wet himself, when he returned to the paddock, white and shaking. Rona!d Posted June 11, 2017 Share #9905 Â Posted June 11, 2017 Back to the Figaro: Owner might have liked the idea to let such a retro thing "age". Never saw one in such a poor condition.

wlaidlaw Posted June 13, 2017 Share #9910 Â Posted June 13, 2017 I have a reasonable idea of the model, I know the make. I was just watching with a friend an old episode of "Danger UXB" Unless the sound was over-dubbed I think that was a 6 cylinder model, maybe an L or K unlike this one. I have nothing to post so will leave it to others. Â Wilson

mikemgb Posted June 16, 2017 Share #9920  Posted June 16, 2017 Here we go. Apologies for the reflections in the bodywork, this car is in a private collection, not a museum and where it is makes it tough to photograph.  Who can name the approximate year, make, model and coach builder? Bonus points for the name of this particular body style.  Welcome, dear visitor!
