John Z. Goriup Posted November 29, 2016 Share #9181  Posted November 29, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) If memory serves me correctly, the first automobile manufacturer to abandon chain drive and adopt shaft-drive was Hotchkiss, circa 1904 or 05 I think.  Your post #9178 shows a commonly used bracket to support the cast iron 'step' and that same part or parts very similar to it were used by Bugatti and several other French manufacturers of the period, and since Hotchkiss was manufactured in France ( Paris I believe ) and you indicate that Wilson's guess of country is  correct - my guess is that it's a Hotchkiss.  JZG

wlaidlaw Posted December 1, 2016 Share #9187 Â Posted December 1, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Brasier?
christoph_d Posted December 1, 2016 Share #9188  Posted December 1, 2016 It is not a Brasier (the name of the car manufacturer in question has the same amount of letters, and four of the letters also appear in it's name )  Some more hints: Apart from producing cars the company also produced trucks and busses (famously as support vehicle for the french front at Verdun) It was acquired by a still existing car manufacturer somewhere in the 1960ies and survived as a marque until the 1970ies. Rgds  C.
