Which is one reason why a flight in a 2 seater Spitfire at Imperial War Musem Duxford with Classic Wings costs £2995 for 30 minutes.  I compromised and flew in a de Havilland Rapide with 11 other passengers for £39.

The first aeroplane I flew in was a Rapide at Duxford, I followed that with a DC3 at Swanton Morley, loved both flights.

'52 Buick Roadmaster...........used to be referred to as a "four-holer". As the 'premium' model Buick, Roadmasters had 4 of the phony, chrome-plated portholes inset into the front fenders as opposed to only three on the lesser models.

John you are so near with your answer - it's just a short step to the correct model.

If memory serves me correctly, there were three Buick models back then - Special, Super and Roadmaster. Since this is clearly a "three-holer" it's not the latter............therefore I'll guess that the  chrome 'shades' above the windows make this a Super.

Correct John … it's a 1951 Buick Super with a Straight Eight engine and Dynaflow transmission.

The grill - Amazingly ugly up through '54 is a Buick tip-off.  I thought the one piece windscreen started in '52.  As a kid we referred to the Dynaflow transmission as "Dyna-slush"

Stuart, According to Wiki the one piece screen commenced in 1950.

Thanks, Dunk...........see you all later tonight with the next 'mystery car'.

I'm going to test my new 90-280 APO Vario-Elmar for the SL which I have been feverishly awaiting for months, and which, through the efforts of my friends at Camera West arrived yesterday. I'm over the moon !

The only car I can think of that had windows anything like this shape was the Packard Twelve Le Baron Coupé Model 1106. That would certainly be an American Classic.

Well, that didn't work out at all the way I expected..........thought it was going to take a little longer than that. I'll have to raise the difficulty quotient if I ever guess correctly again & get to post another one in the future.

Of course you're correct, dunk - a Silver Arrow it is.

This one is part of the San Francisco based Art Academy of S.F. collection who display at an old, defunct, recently refurbished automobile showroom on Van Ness Ave. in the city.

A beautiful venue and certainly a striking and rare car, which caused a real sensation when introduced............at more than $10,000 during the darkest days of the depression.

You're up.

And the front view as well. The panel in the front fender , behind the wheel-well is where the spare wheels were stored.  The body design was actually tested in a wind tunnel........mind you, that was in 1933. Revolutionary indeed.

Thanks John. I was wondering where it's displayed; could not find matching windows in the Blackhawk collection which seemed the obvious place to look.

If anyone has another interesting car photo(s) ready please go ahead.

Here's another puzzle car; its adopted model name was not in use until after its successor was announced and this particular variant has a larger engine than its original documented size suggests.

Make and model please …  and possible approximate year ….   either its original or its subsequent model name will suffice
