Manoleica Posted January 15, 2016 Share #8223 Â Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) I too thought it was a Kestrel, the image I looked at showed the wipers located at the top of the w/screen & the shape of the w/screen was different.. (I looked again, maybe a '33 model)-- Edited January 15, 2016 by manoleica

And it led the funeral procession -  an impressive event, designed by Pete. A jazz band led the cortège in, his favourite jazz and other music was played along with the tributes, and he went off to the engine sound of a 1930's Bentley 4½ litre . All very much Pete and sensitively done.  best wishes  dunk
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!  Yes Wilson it's a 1933 Riley Kestrel. wlaidlaw Posted January 18, 2016 Share #8225  Posted January 18, 2016 Here is your next one. I think I know what it is but I am not 100% sure. I was certain I had kept the entry list for this meeting at Spa in 2011, as it was the last race meeting my brother and I did before giving up our race licences. Driving the T61 Birdcage was just about OK but we both felt ill after driving the Chevron B19 on slicks and realised that anno domini had caught up with us together with old race injuries. However I cannot find what I have done with the entry list. I phoned up my regular rally co-driver as in the un-cropped photo, he is following this car in his Healey 3000 but he can't remember either. I have therefore posted the entire image of the car.  Wilson   Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted January 19, 2016 Share #8227  Posted January 19, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Correct Dunk. I thought it might take folks a bit longer to find that one. I think this is one of the two Jaguar C type engined "works" cars. One did not have the fins at the back and had an all alloy body and the other one was part alloy and part fibreglass - this one. In the hands of Dick Shattock (RGS) in period, when they did not break down, they were very fast. At Spa in 1954, it was reaching a higher speed than the short nose D Type along the Masta Straight.  Your turn.  Wilson

I'll post the next car later today.  Best wishes  dunk  There seem to be lots of photos of the sister car (in yellow and green) without the fins but very few of this car. I wonder if it sat in a barn for fifty years and Barry Wood found it to restore. I don't know how much of it is original but I suspect it is rather better than a friend's Alfa Romeo 6C 1750, which was "restored" from a back axle and one chassis side member. Wasn't it lucky that the side member had the chassis plate on it - cough cough.  Wilson

dkCambridgeshire Posted January 19, 2016 Share #8233  Posted January 19, 2016 No it's not a Wolseley .  There is probably enough information in the description to nail it down to both a marque and model ... clue is engine size.  If you can figure out the marque the model should follow fairly easily … or maybe vice versa.  dunk
