dkCambridgeshire Posted January 6, 2016 Share #8163  Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) Singer le Mans Airline Coupé?   Well done Wilson. But I'm not sure if there's a difference between Singer Nine Sports Coupé and Singer Le Mans Airline Coupé.  Probably c.1933  Welcome, dear visitor! wlaidlaw Posted January 6, 2016 Share #8165  Posted January 6, 2016 My first thought was an MG PA Coupé but, like all MG's of that period, they had octagonal spinners for the Rudge Whitworth wheels. I then wondered what other cars had the Airline Coupé type body and recalled the Singer.  Your next one should not be much of a challenge but I can't find the one from my father's Leica photos that I am looking for, which would be more difficult. I may have made it too easy with a large crop.  Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! wlaidlaw Posted January 6, 2016 Share #8175  Posted January 6, 2016 Not a 100/4 so it's an Austin Healey 3000  dunk  Correct. It looks like a BJ8 Mk3 to me, with wind up windows and the semi-permanently attached hood (it can be removed to fit the hard top). My wife kept suggesting that I get another, as she learnt to drive on my ex-works rally BT7 (YMO 300) in the late 1960's, before it was converted to a race car. When I was looking to buy a classic rally car around 7 years ago, I went and drove a 2 seat Mk1 BN7. It felt much slower than I remembered my one being and very old fashioned compared with the various 911's I tried at the same time, although about the same price. I ended up buying an abandoned 1977 911RSR race car from a scrap yard in California to rebuild. The 911 turns out to have been a fantastic buy, as it it now worth about 4 or 5 times my total cost including restoration, whereas the A-H 3000 would be worth about the same.  Your turn again. Welcome, dear visitor! dkCambridgeshire Posted January 6, 2016 Share #8176  Posted January 6, 2016 (edited) I read the story of Donald Healey's personal 1953 Austin Healey A-H 100 Coupé recently in Classic And Sports Car magazine December edition. When he sold the car it was advertised for £850  http://revivaler.com/donald-healeys-1953-austin-healey-coupe/  …  but sold at Bonham's in December 2015 for £639,000 inc. buyer's premium.   Here's the next 'Name that car' … this section was almost developed into a very special small luxury motor but did not progress beyond the prototype stage … but this is not that prototype … it's the regular model.   Welcome, dear visitor!
