I think this one goes to Dunk as it is clearly a roadster. Seen in New Zealand (Nelson) in the WoW Museum.

Here's the next car which would never float my boat … and it's not really what it seems.

Yes that's near enough Wilson … its an Auburn Boat-tail Speedster 1935/36 replica first registered in Essex in 2013 … exhibited at a recent 40s nostalgia weekend event. The owner appeared a little annoyed when I asked if it was a replica; he advised other visitors that he ," ... cruises on motorways at 125mph …"  Vehicle registration deliberately smudged out as has been changed to a personal number plate.

I cannot see the point of owning/driving one of these lookalikes … and which is badged to suggest it has a lot more power than it actually has.

Dunk,

In its way it is not as bad as many (Excalibur etc) but the column mounted auto selector is a bit naff. I went past a hideous Testarossa/BB512 pastiche a few days ago that was horribly mal-proportioned and I am guessing might have been a Toyota MR2 underneath.

A friend bought a "Cobra" kit some years ago and asked if I would have a look at the bits before he started on the project. I looked at the so called space frame chassis all cobbled together out of square section mild steel tubing whose welding resembled that you used to see on Japanese motorcycles about 50+ years ago, usually called chicken s**t joins, with more spatter than weld. I very gingerly told him he needed to get an expert to look at the chassis before he put a lot of money and effort into building a Cobra and gave him the name of the man who used to do any monocoque repairs I needed. He took one look at it and said "send it back and I will write a letter saying it is not fit for purpose." My friend got his money back and at our recommendation then bought a Gardner Douglas Cobra kit instead. 10 years later, he is still building it  :)

I will look out something to post later.

I will show the whole car because this is a really difficult one. The other car in the background is a licence built version of a later model of the same marque but made in a different country.
