If you keep guessing you'll eventually guess correctly … but there were lots of models made for this particular marque and it's the model name which identifies it.  If you think it's one of the above you should be able to state which model.

The fact that this is an 'old' car is a clue to the model … other clues previously given hint at the make but not the model. There were once three well known English watchmaking centres one of which redeployed watchmakers' skills to diversify its manufacturing activities into other more successful engineering practices. That watchmaking locality became one of England's main bicycle and car manufacturing centres where this marque was manufactured. The make was once famous for its bicycles and its bicycle fork design. But it's not sufficient just to guess the make of car … because it's a definite model … and if you know your marques you'll probably be able to narrow down the car to the actual model. The model had both a model name and a model number … either identifies it … but the name was also used for an earlier model … some years prior to this model.  In later years the make/marque was more badge engineered instead of being designed as a stand alone product … until being discontinued by the current owner/major motor manufacturer. 

 

Both make and model are required.

I'm trying to give you more clues after posting six different photos.  Every car is a marque and a model ... and it's the model which nails it. I don't have more photos so more clues have to be written hints. If the marque was e.g. a Ford or an Austin then the model would identify it … same applies to this make of car of which there were many models. 

 

And BTW … I have just received your very abusive message which I have passed on to the mods.

Having received a very abusive message from manoleica ( at 03.01 hs this morning via my 'immediate topic reply notifications' … which he therefore intended to be published on this open forum  before it was either edited or deleted ) …  I'm pulling out of this thread as I do not wish to participate further unless I receive an apology.

 

This is the car .. it's a 1929 Singer Senior or 10/26  … made in Coventry.

The one make I did not think of - duh!

 

When I was part owner a business building racing cars in the early 1970's, we reassembled an HRG from a number of boxes of bits for a well known motoring journalist but there was no engine. After a lot of looking we tracked down a very rusty Singer Hunter near Ely, which had the very rare HRG modified twin cam 1500 engine in it but could not persuade the owner to sell us the car, as at some point he was going to "restore it". I suspect it just rotted away in the chicken shed that we found it in. The HRG owner had to settle for one of the SOHC Singer engines at the end. 

 

It is very selfish to keep a car that is deteriorating to the point that it is un-restorable, when you have no realistic possibility of restoring it. For years I have known about an Aston Martin DB4GT race car, siting in a near open barn in the west of Scotland. The owner will not sell and I would guess it must be reaching the point of no return. 

 

Anyone want to buy an ex-works 1977 Midas GT race car (in bits) but with a complete assembled Cooper S 1400cc race engine and all new suspension?????

And apologies if my previous clues came over as 'wordy' … but the thread seemed to be going nowhere after 8 photos were posted and nobody had come up with the actual model. 

 

Maybe someone has a fresh 'Name that car' entry?

Looks like a Ferrari SA Aperta ( Italian for 'Open' ) - 80 units were commissioned & built to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the PininFarina firm. All eighty were immediately pre-sold upon the announcement and introduction of the car, leaving none to ship to dealers.

Correct. I think you will have to decide between you and Maximilian who goes next. I was very pleasantly surprised by this car. In many cases open Ferraris are often very disappointing, usually being nothing like as nice as their coupé equivalents. This is a great car, as it has the GTO spec engine with 650 BHP, has lovely steering and handling and makes a wonderful noise. The gear change, being the old automated single clutch box, is nothing like as sophisticated as Ferrari's or Porsche's more modern twin clutch boxes but the rather fierce character of the box seems to suit this car. When you are breaking hard for a tight corner, the auto-blip going "Wap Wap Wap Wap - Crackle Crackle Crackle" as you change down with the paddles, almost gives you the feeling of being in a big single seat car. 

 

The only problem is if it rains. The hood looks like something Pininfarina bought second hand from an army surplus store's tent department. It might keep a light shower out if the car was stationary but not a lot more.

I am afraid that the SA Aperta is rather out of my budget. I get to drive all sorts of nice cars, since I get used as a co-driver by various folk, as I can do regularity navigating. This is a weird mental exercise that involves simultaneously being able to navigate via a Tulip style road book, while keeping track of a pair of graduated odometers, a pair of stop watches and speed tables, to maintain an exact average speed over an unknown distance, with a secret end point and secret controls. It gets complicated as your average speed can change at certain set navigational points, a road junction or other obvious feature.
