Not a Bristol, although it does look a bit like a 406 but it’s older than that.

In 1996, I was going to buy a 1987 Bristol 603S3 but on visiting a friend, was told to visit the Bristol restoration garage near his house. The restorer was so totally uncomplimentary about them, mainly regarding their electrics and fuel consumption, that I steered clear and bought a 1988 BMW M6 instead. Probably a lucky escape. The M6 was a lovely car.

I would imagine it's an import into North America, the wooden steering wheel and very european wipers and washer jets scream european.. (to me)

Vignale made lots of different coupe's for lots of manufacturers..

It still looks like a Ferrari, could be a Fiat!, maybe even a rare Jaguar? Cadillac did have a Vignale model.. Osca GT Berlinetta? I've looked thro' hundreds of pic's, I cannot find a Vignale design with the wipers/door mirrors as per the Post.. I'm baffled.

One last shot -> Alfa Romeo........

Cadillac (circa mid 50’s)

Getting much warmer but much rarer make than Cadillac. I have been classic car rallying in various countries of the world for around 20 years and had never seen one of these cars before. There were two of them in this rally which is close to 10% of the total. To give you another clue, the maker lost so much money on the project, that the tax authorities classified the entire enterprise as a hobby rather than a business.

PS The make is better known for a very different sort of car.

Correct. I was beginning to wonder if anyone would get it. Its full title is a Cunningham Continental C3 Vignale Coupé. I had never seen one before. To modern eyes it is not perhaps that elegant but very much of the early 1950’s era. Vignale obviously did a good job on this one, as he sold this body to various manufacturers, including Ferrari and Maserati. This car originally had a 235 HP Chrysler Hemi engine, with three downdraft carburettors, which Chrysler sold cheap to Briggs Cunningham. By the relative performance to our 352 HP Aston Martin DG4GT Zagato, I would guess this has been improved on since. It has the correct (and I sincerely hope copies not originals) magnesium alloy Hallibrand wheels, maybe not improved by the matt brown paint. Cunningham is better known for the Cadillac engined C4R Le Mans race cars. The Vignale name became part of Ghia, now owned by Ford.

Over to you (or Steve who has not yet found a car to post).
