wlaidlaw Posted June 18, 2014 Share #6483 Posted June 18, 2014 Ronald, The only one in my books is the Bob Webb Durlite 550 but I don’t have a picture of it. I did wonder before you posted the larger crop whether it was the famous Pooper race car (Carrera 4 cam engine in a Cooper Mk VII chassis but you has also said not British. Rona!d Posted June 18, 2014 Share #6484 Posted June 18, 2014 Congratulations, William! It´s the Durlite 550A. After I had posted it, I found out, that we already had this car as a riddle in 2011. I decided to keep it online, but nobody seemed to remember. The background story can be found here. Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted June 18, 2014 Share #6485 Posted June 18, 2014 Interesting that the rear fenders have dents from debris throw into the wheel well by the tires. A well restored 550 Spyder sold at Amelia Iland nearly two years ago for US$4.3 million.
wlaidlaw Posted June 18, 2014 Share #6486 Posted June 18, 2014 In 1969, I sold an accident damaged 550 to someone for £400 and a set of 13” x 10” Minilite wheels for our fraud Morgan. He threw away the body and chassis to put the engine and gearbox in a rallycross beetle - ouch! Wilson

wlaidlaw Posted June 19, 2014 Share #6488 Posted June 19, 2014 Here is your next one. Apologies for the less than wonderful picture. I have a better one but it was not very suitable for cropping. a.j.z Posted June 19, 2014 Share #6489 Posted June 19, 2014 (edited) Interesting ... The only thing that I am quite sure about is that the windscreen wiper maybe was not very useful unless there are some sophisticated hidden mechanics involved Japanese? wlaidlaw Posted June 19, 2014 Share #6492 Posted June 19, 2014 That did not take long. I hoped that swapping the colour to blue might hold a few people up. It is a quite extraordinary car which only weighed 650kg and had a CD of 0.24. Your turn. Wilson Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted June 19, 2014 Share #6493 Posted June 19, 2014 There have been similar articulated single wipers on other cars (such as the McLaren F1), but the wiper blade shown here seems way undersized.

One of the earliest cars to have a successful pantographic wiper was the Porsche 904 GTS in 1962. Wilson

gmo Posted June 23, 2014 Share #6497 Posted June 23, 2014 Sorry for being late but it was a busy weekend. The Abarth made me immedialtely think about the Alfa 33 Pininfarina prototype and that sent me in the right direction. So here is a new one: Welcome, dear visitor! DigitalHeMan Posted June 23, 2014 Share #6498 Posted June 23, 2014 Am tempted to say a Bugatti Type 35, based upon the color, filler cap, seat, and body sill, but the exhaust pipe is in the wrong place.....
