stuny Posted February 9, 2012 Share #2943 Posted February 9, 2012 I suspect "Italian" might still apply referring to the body designer, if not marque. I also suspect mid '50s.
Andreas.Pichler Posted February 9, 2012 Share #2944 Posted February 9, 2012 Looks indeed maserati-ish...so what about OSCA, Pete? Cheers, Andreas

jevidon Posted February 9, 2012 Share #2946 Posted February 9, 2012 a Vignale bodied Facel?
elansprint72 Posted February 9, 2012 Author Share #2947 Posted February 9, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not Italian at all but Italian is spoken in part of the country of the carrosserie manufacture. Try not to look at the front, cover it up and concentrate on the wheel and body profile above it.
Andreas.Pichler Posted February 10, 2012 Share #2948 Posted February 10, 2012 ...italian spoken in part of the country...seems to be Switzerland, a famous manufacturer has been Ghia-Aigle there. And indeed, it looks typical for Aigle. But they build custom tailored cars for nearly every maker, Volkswagen, Ferrari, Jowett, Alfa.... So, I am voting for Ghia-Aigle Cheers, Andreas
jevidon Posted February 10, 2012 Share #2949 Posted February 10, 2012 (edited) As you have identified the body maker as Swiss, then it must be a Graber body, and the wheels are Borrani. so the underpinnings could be most anything. The shape of the grill resembles some one offs by Alvis, so I would hazard a guess that it is a Graber bodied Alvis, possibly a TC21 or so. It is a shame that the right headlight bezel is missing. Alvis by Graber it is! It is on a T type but I'm not sure which one. Welcome, dear visitor! Andreas.Pichler Posted February 12, 2012 Share #2957 Posted February 12, 2012 First, I was thinking about something like Lancia. But then the edges of the logo will not fit, as well as the Brooklands screens. Lancia - at least the right continent? Cheers, Andreas
jevidon Posted February 12, 2012 Share #2958 Posted February 12, 2012 Not a Lancia. Not even Italy. Here is hint. While the car is relatively standard, including the radiator frame and surround, the mesh radiator grill is not. Here is a further photo hint which should give it away. Note: I have deliberately obscured the name on the head badge. Welcome, dear visitor! pico Posted February 12, 2012 Share #2959 Posted February 12, 2012 (edited) Here is a better picture at maximum allowable forum size. RE: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/1967898-post2910.html Later versions did not have the textured skin, which is unfortunate. A dimpled surface (with detents rather than expressions) shed air flow better than a smooth skin. I've yet to find someone, for example a GP road racing motorcycle, take advantage of it. If my car did not have a fiberglass and CF body, I'd do it. . Edited February 12, 2012 by pico
