Bill Allsopp Posted February 1, 2012 Share #2901 Posted February 1, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) ..... a (Harry) Miller racer, probable vintage mid to late 1920's or very early 1930's. Right era, wrong car. This one's quite a bit faster. Here's another picture. Welcome, dear visitor! elansprint72 Posted February 1, 2012 Author Share #2902 Posted February 1, 2012 Exhausts on both sides makes me think this some aero-engined Special. Cars with V-config engines were almost unheard of back in those days.

Andreas.Pichler Posted February 1, 2012 Share #2904 Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) ...much faster than a Harry Miller racer... Maybe the Hispano Delage 500CV with 27l aero engine - sorry, have to correct myself, its the Delage-DH-V12, forgot to look for the Brooklands exhaust... Cheers, Andreas Edited February 1, 2012 by Andreas.Pichler
Bill Allsopp Posted February 1, 2012 Share #2905 Posted February 1, 2012 ...........its the Delage-DH-V12....Cheers, Andreas It is! A one time land speed record holder and a grand prix winner driven by such notables as John Cobb and Kaye Petre. Still used with intent today and meticulously maintained. Your turn to set the challenge, see you all again when I get back from Norfolk. I leave in 5 minutes.
Andreas.Pichler Posted February 1, 2012 Share #2906 Posted February 1, 2012 ...and here we are, doing a time warp again, forward to the 50ies. Our car has been made by a small manufacturer, which was nevertheless very active in the contemporary racing scene - and is still in business. Can you name the car? Stefan2010 Posted February 2, 2012 Share #2908 Posted February 2, 2012 might be Shelby Cobra?
Andreas.Pichler Posted February 2, 2012 Share #2909 Posted February 2, 2012 No, much more elegant (concerning my taste). And the car bares its claws not with a Ford engine ;-) Cheers, Andreas
jevidon Posted February 2, 2012 Share #2910 Posted February 2, 2012 Lister Jaguar?
Andreas.Pichler Posted February 2, 2012 Share #2911 Posted February 2, 2012 (edited) Claws like a Jaguar....but Lister as maker is not correct. The maker of our car has been founded a few years earlier. Maybe the rear view helps: Welcome, dear visitor! Here the pics the crops were made from plus a cockpit pic which should have been the next clue. Cheers, Andreas PS: Location - Classic Days Schloss Dyck 2010, a big classic car festival in Germany. gmo Posted February 6, 2012 Share #2920 Posted February 6, 2012 Thanks Jevidon, the first picture didn't immediately ring a bell but the second one made it clear. I've seen the car on 2 occasions when I visited the Alfa Museum but that's more than 10 years ago now. Anyhow the next one shouldn't prove too difficult I think. It is clearly a convertible and the 3 boys are my grandchildren. Welcome, dear visitor!
