Sasmon Posted January 26, 2011 Share #706 Posted January 26, 2011 Indeed Bill. Sorry for the delay, but I have been away from the computer for a few days. This was a 1939 Auto Union D Type racing up the hill climb at Shelsey Walsh in 2005. I'll post some more pictures later. It was unbelievable that they would race this priceless car up the narrow lane at race speed. Hans Stuck raced a similar car at Shelsey Walsh in 1936. bill Posted January 27, 2011 Share #708 Posted January 27, 2011 Okay, here we go. This is a moderate crop from a photo that does show the whole car - but that would be faaar too easy. Name of the manufacturer, please (which shouldn't be too hard), the EXACT model, and extra points for naming the hotel it is parked outside. Welcome, dear visitor! gmo Posted January 30, 2011 Share #709 Posted January 30, 2011 Bill, First idea was a Lancia Beta HPE but I soon realized that didn't really fit. So the next was a Jaguar XJS "Shooting brake". And then I had to search for the exact name of the model as you asked. So I think the answer is Lynx Eventer based on the Jaguar XJS. As to the hotel I have no idea at all. bill Posted January 30, 2011 Share #710 Posted January 30, 2011 Spot-on, Gerd! It is indeed a Jaguar XJS Lynx Eventer, thus: Welcome, dear visitor! Rona!d Posted February 4, 2011 Share #712 Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) Any further details or hints, Gerd? Seems to be an open two seater with sports screen. Kit Car? Prototype? 4/6/8/12 cyl.? Edited February 4, 2011 by Rona|d
bill Posted February 4, 2011 Share #713 Posted February 4, 2011 Fiat Barchetta? Regards, Bill
gmo Posted February 5, 2011 Share #714 Posted February 5, 2011 Ronald, Open two-seater - prototype - 12 cyl. Bill, Not a Barchetta but I see what you mean with the taillights though on the Barchetta they are more square shaped. Nevertheless some FIAT familiarity. Another view - I did some hiding of details but the colors give it partly away. Welcome, dear visitor! Rona!d Posted February 7, 2011 Share #717 Posted February 7, 2011 (edited) It took me quit a while, because I´m (edit NOT) that into modern Ferraris: Pininfarina Rossa Edited February 7, 2011 by Rona|d
gmo Posted February 8, 2011 Share #718 Posted February 8, 2011 Ronald, Spot on. The Pininfarina Ferrari Rossa from the 2000 Turin Motor Show celebrated Pininfarina's 70 years in the business. The car was a concept built on the popular Ferrari 550 Maranello chassis. Some more images: Welcome, dear visitor! Rona!d Posted February 8, 2011 Share #719 Posted February 8, 2011 Thanks, Gerd! The funny thing is, right from the start i could see their historical design quotes, could name the related cars, but forgot that 70th anniversary Pinifarina study completely where it all had been mixed up (plus some modern additions). Give me a day to search my archive what I can provide as the next riddle.
