Indeed Bill. Sorry for the delay, but I have been away from the computer for a few days.

This was a 1939 Auto Union D Type racing up the hill climb at Shelsey Walsh in 2005.

I'll post some more pictures later. It was unbelievable that they would race this priceless car up the narrow lane at race speed.

Hans Stuck raced a similar car at Shelsey Walsh in 1936.

Okay, here we go.

This is a moderate crop from a photo that does show the whole car - but that would be faaar too easy.

Name of the manufacturer, please (which shouldn't be too hard), the EXACT model, and extra points for naming the hotel it is parked outside. :D

Bill,

First idea was a Lancia Beta HPE but I soon realized that didn't really fit. So the next was a Jaguar XJS "Shooting brake". And then I had to search for the exact name of the model as you asked.

So I think the answer is Lynx Eventer based on the Jaguar XJS. As to the hotel I have no idea at all.

Gerd

Spot-on, Gerd!

It is indeed a Jaguar XJS Lynx Eventer, thus:

...and it is outside the Westminster Hotel in Le Touquet.

Over to you!

Ronald,

Open two-seater - prototype - 12 cyl.

Bill,

Not a Barchetta but I see what you mean with the taillights though on the Barchetta they are more square shaped. Nevertheless some FIAT familiarity.

Another view - I did some hiding of details but the colors give it partly away.

Ronald,

Spot on. The Pininfarina Ferrari Rossa from the 2000 Turin Motor Show celebrated Pininfarina's 70 years in the business. The car was a concept built on the popular Ferrari 550 Maranello chassis.

Thanks, Gerd!

The funny thing is, right from the start i could see their historical design quotes, could name the related cars, but forgot that 70th anniversary Pinifarina study completely where it all had been mixed up (plus some modern additions).

Give me a day to search my archive what I can provide as the next riddle.
