farnz Posted April 15, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's interesting to note that a Scottish Leica Premier Dealer has a used M9 for sale at £140 above new price. (Apologies in advance if this has been noted before.) Pete.

wparsonsgisnet Posted April 15, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 15, 2010 I have *always* felt that these cameras improved with use. In fact, images continue to improve (no surprise to the bride). Bit. perhaps he should f-stop doing that. With the (still) shortage of these cameras, one would wonder in 'Murican slang if it "fell of the back of the truck." wattsy Posted April 15, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 15, 2010 With passport warranty a used M9 is pretty low risk and there is bound to be someone who needs one quickly and can't be bothered to join a waiting list. It wouldn't surprise me if this M9 gets bought at the asking price. RRP is actually £4950 (though I know many dealers still quote £4850).
Bill W Posted April 15, 2010 Share #6 Posted April 15, 2010 Based on others posting here, I would say if will not be long before supply will catch up to demand on the M9. I would bet if you looked around, you could buy one without much trouble.
250swb Posted April 15, 2010 Share #7 Posted April 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Supply will catch up with demand, but in seventy five years time the early serial numbers will always be more collectable and carry the premium.... marknorton Posted April 15, 2010 Share #9 Posted April 15, 2010 Interesting to note how few secondhand lenses that same dealer is showing. M stuff, new and used, is in really short supply which actually should be encouraging to all of us.
menos I M6 Posted April 16, 2010 Share #10 Posted April 16, 2010 Second hand M9 are regularly in shops in Shanghai at around 6.000,- EUR. Prices though, slowly seem to come down, as these dealers recognize, that not exactly many people get traction with these insane prices. I am the buy new under MSRP, buy used for half MSRP guy. They won't sell me an overpriced digital camera. It is good, that the price fall has slowly started now.

M stuff, new and used, is in really short supply which actually should be encouraging to all of us. This seems to be a general trend. Looking around on various dealer's websites in Europe for some time now, I've noticed that there are definitely fewer and fewer latest version used M lenses available. Older ones, pre- mid1980s, seem not so difficult to come by. It's been like this since the launch of the M9. I suppose as more second hand M8s come not the market so has the demand for used M lenses increased.
