hmisbell Posted March 25, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted March 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I find it had to believe that Leica shipped the X1 (at least to the USofA) with no provision for filters and/or polarizer. Does anyone know whether L is going to bring something of the sort to market? Failing that, what recommendations for filters and adapters from other providers? Advertisement Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Hi hmisbell, Take a look here filters for Leica X1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
grober Posted March 25, 2010 Share #2 Â Posted March 25, 2010 The removable aluminum ring on the front of the lens strongly suggests that Leica has some accessory or accessories planned for later release. What that might be is anyone's guess. Â Surely an enterprising third-party machinist will come along and offer a suitable retaining ring that will use this existing thread IF the potential volume warrants the investment, yes? Â Right now I have my hands full trying to put my existing X1 to good use. Let me just say that I would respond favorable to two possible X1 accessories: screw-on lens hood and close-up auxiliary lens (i.e. a modern ELPRO for the X1.) Unless you remove the retainer where the serial is inscribed and screw a filter in there? Usually the glass selected for Leica lenses are of sufficient Mohs scale (resistant to scratches) to withstand outdoor usage and they shun away from the need to use any protective filters. At least this has been my experience with their surveying equipment. Yes, it would be nice to attach a polarizer filter, or any filter.
edshere Posted April 2, 2010 Share #4 Â Posted April 2, 2010 If only Leica would release the adapter and lens hood like Ricoh did for the GR series. Â Â Here's my other point and shoot camera with CPL filter attached to the adapter and the square hood would lock into place too. Â If Leica doesn't make one, u can be sure the 3rd party manufactures will.
Jeff Kerridge Posted April 5, 2010 Share #5 Â Posted April 5, 2010 I came across this and am considering it. ACMAXX LENS ARMOR - Leica D-Lux 4 / Panasonic DMC-LX3 Any thoughts? Jeff K
damnsharp Posted April 10, 2010 Share #6 Â Posted April 10, 2010 I only can say it looks weird, that green look. And I am wondering if the lens quality is so bad it scratches easy.
bill Posted April 10, 2010 Share #7 Â Posted April 10, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Blimey. Â What have you lot been sniffing? Â You need an adaptor tube, a la D-Lux 4. If Leica aren't making one rest assured some Eastern entrepreneur will do so shortly. The filter, or what-have-you screws to the adaptor, not the lens. See here. Rona!d Posted April 10, 2010 Share #8  Posted April 10, 2010 Gents, before you arm your small point and shoot camera with loads of gimmicks, try an M9 instead Honestly a kind of slim protection filter is nice, but all these monster finders, Arriflex-film camera lens shades etc. kill the point and shoot character of this nice camera. An D-Lux4 needed the handgrip and it still was small, the X1 will loose it´s compact design with anything else like maybe a small external 35mm finder.  My 2 cent. I have an X1 and love it, but one of the main rationalisations people gave for paying so much for the camera was its size to image quality ratio. With all those add-ons, why not just buy a mid-range DSLR? A Nikon D90 with kit lens currently sells on Amazon for *half* the price of the X1! Wake up. jsrockit Posted April 11, 2010 Share #11 Â Posted April 11, 2010 I'm with stephen.w... these huge add ons just go against the spirit of the X1. However, who am I to say how someone should use their camera.
